There are three games on the WNBA schedule for Thursday night, including games featuring each of the participants in last year’s WNBA Finals. There is also a game featuring one of the more intriguing young teams in the league, who will look to get over the hump after losing to their Thursday night opponent in overtime in their last meeting. Atlanta Dream (+7.5) vs Connecticut Sun (O/U 163)
The Atlanta Dream are coming off of a huge upset win over the New York Liberty on Tuesday night. They will look to build on that with another road win as they face the Connecticut Sun at Mohegan Sun Arena. But for the Dream to pick up another impressive victory in this contest, the Dream will have to find a way to stop a Connecticut team that is much more consistent on the offensive end on the floor.
The Liberty are still trying to figure things out offensively after making so many offseason moves, and they were also without Sabrina Ionescu for Tuesday’s matchup. Meanwhile, the Sun have a ton of continuity with DeWanna Bonner and Alyssa Thomas leading them. It will take an even better defensive effort from the Dream to pull out a second straight win away from home.
Indiana Fever (+3) vs Chicago Sky (O/U 159.5)
The Indiana Fever are starting to build something special after last year, when they lost 18 games in a row to end the 2022 season. They have been dominant on the glass so far this season, with Aliyah Boston and NaLyssa Smith making a formidable young duo for them. Here, they will look to win on the road against the Chicago Sky, in a rematch of their overtime game from a couple of weeks ago.
Chicago is incredibly thin up front for this game, which could cost them in a big way in this game. But the Sky have the advantage from the guard spots, as Kahleah Copper is expected to play despite missing some practices due to personal issues. Whichever team imposes its style onto this game the most effectively should be able to come away with a win in the Windy City.
Seattle Storm (+17.5) vs Las Vegas Aces (O/U 168)
The final game of the Thursday WNBA schedule is expected to be the most lopsided game of the day. The Las Vegas Aces are hosting the Seattle Storm in a game with a point spread that could get close to 20 points by the time this contest tips off. Even with the Storm playing a little better of late, it is unlikely that they will be able to keep up with an Aces team that has lost just one time all season.
For this contest, the key will be the level of focus that the Aces bring into this matchup. The Aces have solidified themselves as so far superior to most of the league at this point in time that we could see their focus wane in the regular season periodically. But if they bring their maximum effort to this matchup, the Aces should be able to cruise against a Storm team that needs to provide Jewell Loyd with some help in the worst way.
