The 2021-22 NHL season continues Tuesday, March 29, with this Atlantic Division showdown at TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts, so we have prepared the best Maple Leafs vs. Bruins betting pick and odds.

Toronto and Boston will be playing the second of their four-game series. The Maple Leafs won the first meeting between these teams, a 5-2 victory back on November 6, but that was back in Toronto, so it is not surprising that Boston opens as the favorite on Bookmaker Sportsbook at -130. Boston is 6-3-1 in the last 10 meetings between these teams.

Toronto Wins Fourth Straight at Home

The Toronto Maple Leafs (41-19-5; 27-38 ATS) defeated the Florida Panthers on Sunday, 5-2. That was the fourth straight victory at home for the Maple Leafs, however the team has struggled on the road of late, losing three straight contests. Toronto is 6-3-1 in their last 10 games and are one point behind Tampa Bay for second place in the Atlantic Division.

Mitchell Marner had three assists in the contest and Morgan Rielly had a goal and two assists. John Taveras scored two goals, giving him 22 on the season, fourth most on the club. Rielly is now second in assists with 45 and fifth in points with 52. Marner has 74 total points, second on the team.

Toronto is a team that thrives on their offense, third in the NHL in goals per game at 3.65. They are first on the power-play at 29.2%. The Maple Leafs have been even better on the road, averaging 3.75 goals per game, but they are allowing 3.41 goals per game on the road as compared to 3.02 goals overall.

Boston Wins Fourth Straight

The Boston Bruins (41-19-5; 25-40 ATS) defeated the New York Islanders on Saturday, 6-3. That is the fourth straight victory for the Bruins and their fourth straight victory at home. The Bruins are 8-1-1 in their last 10 games, tying them with Toronto for third place in the Atlantic Division. Boston is 20-10-2 at home.

Brad Marchand and Taylor Hall each had a goal and two assists in the victory over New York. Marchand now has seven points over his last five games, including five goals. He is second on the team with 65 points. David Pastrnak had a goal and an assist and now leads the club with 37 goals and 66 points.

The tandem of Jeremy Swayman (19-8-3, 2.09 GAA, .925 save percentage) and Linus Ullmark (20-9-2, 2.73 GAA, .908 save percentage) have been spectacular for the team.

Trends:

Toronto Maple Leafs:

  • 0-4 in their last four games as the road underdog.
  • 1-4 in their last five games as the underdog.

Boston Bruins:

  • 4-0 in their last four games at home.
  • 14-3 in their last 17 games.

Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Boston Bruins Pick

While Toronto has been playing well of late, they have not been nearly as good on the road. The Maple Leafs are 17-12-3 on the road this season, but are losers of three straight road contests. Meanwhile, Boston has been outstanding at home, winning their last four games at the TD Garden and they are 5-0-1 in their last six games at home.

While Boston has not been as good defensively at home this season, their goaltending has been spectacular in division contests. Look for Boston to jump out early and take command of this game.

Pick: Take Boston Bruins

The Total:

There is a lot at stake in this contest. These teams are tied for third place and are one point away from catching Tampa Bay. Both are locked into a playoff spot, so it is a race to see who will face Florida and who will take on Tampa Bay in Round 1. In fact, these two teams could wind up facing each other in the first round of the playoffs.

For that reason, you have to expect a playoff atmosphere here. This is going to be tight checking as seen in their most recent contests. Toronto has gone under in four of their last six games while Boston has gone under in four of their last seven.

Pick: Go under 6.0
