Week 4 of the 2021 NFL season wraps up with the AFC showdown between the Las Vegas Raiders and Los Angeles Chargers, so here’s the best Monday Night Football betting pick along with the latest team stats, news, and betting trends.

The Chargers opened as 3-point home favorites for Monday’s clash, and you can pick them at -164 moneyline odds on Bookmaker Sportsbook. The Raiders are +150 road dogs to win straight up, while the totals sit at 51.5 points.

Las Vegas avoided an upset in Week 3 to continue its perfect season

The Las Vegas Raiders (3-0; 2-1 ATS) are coming off a 31-28 overtime victory to the Miami Marlins this past Sunday. They failed to cover a 3-point spread at home, but the Raiders must be pleased with the result. Las Vegas nearly blew an 11-point fourth-quarter lead, while Daniel Carlson decided the winner with a 22-yard field goal as the time expired.

Peyton Barber led the way for the Raiders with 23 carries for 111 yards and a TD. Derek Carr went 26-of-43 for 386 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception, while Hunter Renfrow had five receptions for 77 yards and a TD. Las Vegas missed RB Josh Jacobs (ankle, toe), who’s questionable to play in Week 4.

The Raiders are leading the NFL in total yards per game (471.0) while scoring 30.0 points per game. They are surrendering 24.0 points in a return on 120.3 rushing yards (22nd) and 235.3 passing yards per game (13th).

The Chargers finally beat Patrick Mahomes

The Los Angeles Chargers (2-1; 2-1 ATS) thrashed off the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 17 of the 2020 season, 38-21, but Patrick Mahomes wasn’t on the field, getting a well-deserved rest in the final game of the season. Last Sunday, the Chargers got Mahomes’ number and beat the Chiefs as 7-point road underdogs, 30-24.

Justin Herbert enjoyed a wonderful game in Week 3, tossing for 281 yards and four touchdowns. Mike Williams had seven catches for 122 yards and a couple of touchdowns, while Keenan Allen added eight receptions for 50 yards. The Chargers forced four turnovers, picking off Patrick Mahomes twice.

Los Angeles is tallying 22.3 points per game on 307.3 passing yards (4th) and just 87.3 rushing yards (26th). The Chargers are yielding 20.0 points in a return (8th) on 201.7 passing yards (7th) and 170.0 rushing yards per contest (32nd).

Trends:

Las Vegas:

  • 3-6 ATS in the last nine games overall
  • 4-7 ATS in the last 11 games against the Chargers

LA Chargers:

  • 6-1 ATS in the last seven games overall
  • 4-1 ATS in the last five games against the AFC West

Las Vegas Raiders vs. Los Angeles Chargers Pick

The Raiders have already won in overtime twice, and I’m not impressed with them at all. Derek Carr is doing a great job, but the Raiders still have a lot of problems on the defensive end, while Jos Jacobs’ injury is affecting their ground game.

The Chargers’ run D is struggling mightily, but their pass D will be ready for Carr and the Raiders’ receiving corps. Justin Herbert has a lot of dangerous weapons at his disposal, so I’m backing the Chargers to have the last laugh in what should be a tight affair.

Pick: Take Los Angeles Chargers -2.5 at -138

The Total:

Both teams have problems slowing down rushing, so they should move the ball easily. The Chargers’ defense has been solid in general, allowing just 20 points per contest, but I’m expecting the Raiders to surpass a 20-point mark.

On the other side, the Chargers could easily hit the 30-point mark for the second straight week. The Raiders have allowed 26 or more points in nine of their last ten games overall, and the over has hit in seven of their previous eight outings at any location.

Pick: Go over 51.5 points at -110
