Monday night in the MLB is giving us the American League matchup at Angel Stadium of Anaheim with the first pitch at 9:38 PM ET, and here is the best Royals vs. Angels betting pick and odds.

Kansas City and Los Angeles will open a three-game series in California, and the hosts are strong -195 moneyline favorites on BetDSI Sportsbook. The American League rivals will meet for the first time this season after facing six times in 2021. The Angels won that series 4-2.

Royals couldn’t sweep the Athletics on the road

The Kansas City Royals were on a positive run of three straight wins, including the opening two of a three-game series against the Oakland Athletics on the road. Still, the Royals failed to get on the scoreboard in a 4-0 loss and fell short of securing their first series sweep of the campaign. With a 23-42 record, they are batting the A’s at the bottom of the AL.

The Royals displayed one of the weakest offensive performances of the year, registering only four hits and leaving Brady Singer with no chance of avoiding his second loss of the season. Singer, who dropped to a 3-2 record, pitched for 5.1 innings and allowed three runs on six hits with 4 K and 0 BB. MJ Melendez was the only Royal in the mood on offense as he recorded a single and a double.

Kris Bubic (0-4) is still looking for the first win of the campaign in his 9th start. The 24-year-old southpaw has a disappointing 8.36 ERA, 1.89 WHIP, and 24/18 K/BB ratio in 28.0 innings. Bubic met the Angels once in 2021 and was dismantled over 4.0 innings, recording a bloated 13.50 ERA.

Angels were perfect in the last two

The Los Angeles Angels won four of a five-game series against the Seattle Mariners, but the last two victories were impressive. The Angels didn’t allow a single run in those two, their second back-to-back no-run wins of the year. They improved to a 33-36 record and even though they will be without third baseman Anthony Rendon (wrist) for the rest of the season, the Angeles will be fine. Los Angeles will spend the next nine games at home.

Mike Trout launched five home runs in this five-game series, and he opened the scoring in a 4-0 win over the Mariners with a two-run homer in the 4th. Kenny Rosenberg was handed the first start of his young career and he lasted for 4.2 innings, allowing no runs on two hits with one strikeout and three walks. The bullpen was fantastic and kept the Mariners at bay, letting no hits for the remainder of the game.

Noah Syndergaard (4-5) is hoping to snap a three-game losing streak and has a good chance when he takes on the Royals on Monday. The 29-year-old right-hander currently has a 3.53 ERA, 1.18 WHIP, and 35/13 K/BB ratio in 51.0 innings. Syndergaard hasn’t met the Royals since 2019.

Trends:

Kansas City:

  • 7-13 in the last 20 games overall
  • 5-14 in the last 19 games against LA Angels

Los Angeles:

  • 4-1 in their last five games overall
  • 8-1 in the last nine games when playing at home against Kansas City

Kansas City Royals vs. Los Angeles Angels Pick

Even though the Angels are not batting very well against southpaws this season (.228), Mike Trout has been in an outstanding form of late and after recording five homers in a five-game series against Seattle, I am backing him to shine again on Monday. Trout has a .352 batting average against the lefties, with four home runs and eight RBI in 54 at-bats.

Bubic is struggling this year, and I am backing the Angeles to feast on him in the opening game of the series. Syndergaard, on the other hand, allowed only four RBIs in 40 at-bats against Kansas City’s batters, and I believe he will dominate in this one.

Pick: Take Los Angeles -1.5 at +110

The Total

Syndergaard allowed exactly one run in four of his last six starts and given his record against the Royals batters, I am backing him to have another strong outing. Bubic will be under heavy fire, but his teammates from offense are the problem if you want to back Over.

The total has gone Under in six of LA Angels’ last seven games against an opponent in the American League, while the total went Under in four of Kansas City’s previous six games against the AL rivals.

Pick: Go Under 8.5 runs at -110
