We have the National League West duel at Petco Park in San Diego on Monday night, with the first pitch at 9:40 PM ET, so make sure you don’t miss out on the best Diamondbacks vs. Padres betting pick and odds.

Arizona and San Diego will open a three-game series in California, and the hosts are firm -200 moneyline favorites on MyBookie Sportsbook. The divisional rivals have met four times this season and the Padres lead the series 3-1.

Diamondbacks bounce back from a big loss to Minnesota

The Arizona Diamondbacks responded to a massive 11-1 loss to the Minnesota Twins with a 7-1 victory to win a three-game series. The Dbacks improved to a 32-36 record and we could say that they are slight overachievers so far in the season.

Merrill Kelly (6-4) was excellent in his start against Minnesota as he pitched for 7.0 innings, allowing one run on five hits along with five strikeouts and no walks. Christian Walker hit a pair of solo homers and now improved to 18 home runs on the year, nine more than Daulton Varsho and Jordan Luplow.

Zach Davies (2-3) is looking for the first win in seven starts as he faces the Padres on Monday. The 29-year-old right-hander is getting his 14th start of the year and he currently owns a 3.78 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, and 57/22 K/BB ratio over 69.0 innings of work. Davies met San Diego once this season, and it was a no-decision as he registered a 3.60 ERA in 5.0 innings.

Padres suffered a series sweep to the Rockies in Colorado

The San Diego Padres were swept for the second time this season as they lost all three duels against the Colorado Rockies on the road. They were on a four-game winning run prior to that series, and the Padres are still 3rd in the National League with a strong 41-27 record. With the next two series against Arizona and Philadelphia at home, San Diego expects to improve that record.

The Padres took a 1-0 lead through Luke Voit’s solo homer in the 2nd inning, but that was pretty much it from the Padres until the 8th when they added two more runs. However, it was late to make a comeback and they succumbed to an 8-3 defeat. Blake Snell, who is still searching for his first win of the campaign, fell to a 0-4 record after allowing four runs on five hits with five strikeouts and four walks in 4.2 innings.

Yu Darvish (6-3) impressed in his last two starts, both resulted in wins, letting just one run in total over 15.0 innings. The 35-year-old righty is awaiting his 13th start of the year with a respectable 3.35 ERA, 0.97 WHIP, and 61/15 K/BB ratio in 75.1 innings. Darvish was great in his previous start against Arizona and pitched a no-hitter across 6.0 innings in a no-decision.

Arizona Diamondbacks vs. San Diego Padres Pick

The Padres will be highly motivated to return to winning ways following a disappointing series at Coors Field, and I am backing them to bounce back on Monday. Yu Darvish is dominating at the moment and he will definitely pitch for more than six innings if he continues with a strong display.

Zach Davies wasn’t bad in his last start against the Padres and he allowed no runs in two of his previous three starts overall. Still, this matchup is not in Davies’ favor, and I think the hosts will get to him early on. Eric Hosmer and Manny Machado, who combine for 5/15 with one homer, five RBIs, and just one strikeout against Davies, will cause a lot of trouble to the Dbacks starter.

Pick: Take San Diego Padres -1.5 at +105

The Total

None of Darvish’s last five starts produced more than seven runs and considering that the total for this game is set at 7.5, I am going with Under. Arizona will struggle to get anything out of Yu in the opening few frames as the Dbacks will find it hard against red-hot Darvish.

Even though I am backing the Padres to score multiple runs in the first five or six innings, I don’t expect a high-scoring affair. Three of four H2H duels this season went Under.

Pick: Go Under 7.5 runs at -110
