The NBA betting action goes on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 with nine games around the league, including this interconference showdown at Vivint Arena in Salt Lake City, so we bring you the best Nuggets vs. Jazz betting pick along with the latest odds update on Bookmaker Sportsbook

Utah has won the last four meetings between these teams, including a 125-102 victory back on January 16. They have beaten Denver all three times these teams have played this season. DeMarcus Cousins is listed as questionable for Denver. Michael Porter and Jamal Murray are out for the year. Hassan Whiteside and Trent Forrest are both listed as questionable for Utah. Rudy Gobert, Joe Ingles, and Donovan Mitchell are all out.

Nuggets Win Streak Snapped in Minneapolis

The Denver Nuggets (28-22) saw their five-game winning streak come to an end when they lost to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday, 130-115. Denver had been rolling thanks to a stifling defense that had held opponents to 105 or fewer points in three of their four games prior to the contest against Minnesota. The Nuggets are 3-6-1 ATS in their last 10.

Denver struggled to control the Minnesota bench, which had four players score in double digits, including Tauren Prince with 23. Denver was led by Nikola Jokic with 21 points, 16 rebounds, and eight assists. Jokic continues to be an absolute beast this season, averaging 25.9 points, 13.8 rebounds, and 7.8 assists per game. He is a 57.2% shooter, including 81.4% from the free-throw line.

Denver is a team that needs strong play defensively to win games. They are 11th in the NBA in points allowed per contest (107.4), but have shot well, fifth in field-goal percentage (47.1%). Aaron Gordon (51.9%) and Jeff Green (51.3%) are both hitting over 50% of their shots.

Jazz Skid Continues

The Utah Jazz (30-21) lost their fifth straight game when they lost to Minnesota on Sunday, 126-106. The Jazz are suddenly struggling to score, scoring below 110 points in all five of their losses. The losing streak has now dropped the team to fourth place in the Western Conference. Utah is 2-7-1 ATS in their last 10.

Minnesota totally dominated this contest, hitting 55.1% of their shots. Bojan Bogdanvic led the Jazz with 23 points. Mike Conley had 22. With Mitchell and Gobert out, the pressure is on Bogdanovic and Conley to step up. Bogdanvic is averaging 17.9 points per game while Conley is at 14.2 per contest.

The biggest loss has been trying to replace Gobert and his 15.1 rebounds per game. Utah is fourth in the NBA in defensive rebounds per game (35.7) and fifth in total rebounds (45.9). However, without Gobert in the lineup, the team produced just 38 against Minnesota.

Trends:

Utah:

  • 3-14-1 ATS in their last 18 games as the favorite.
  • 5-17-2 ATS in their last 24 games.

Memphis Grizzlies vs. New York Knicks Pick

Utah still enters this contest as the favorite. Oddsmakers must be impressed by the fact that they have beaten Denver four straight times, including all three times this season. However, without Mitchell and Gobert in the lineup this is simply not the same team.

Denver saw their five-game winning streak come to an end on Tuesday and are playing on back-to-back nights, but they are far healthier than what Utah has to offer. Look for the Nuggets to win outright.

Pick: Take the Denver Nuggets at +2.0 (-110)

The Total:

These teams have gone over 224.5 in four of the last five meetings, with the fifth falling just short of that total at 224. However, that was with Mitchell and Gobert in the lineup. The loss of 41 points and nearly 20 rebounds is a lot to replace, and those filling in simply are not up to the task.

However, the Utah defense is getting torched lately, giving up 115 points or more in three of their last four games. The Nuggets have been playing well all offensively of late, scoring at least 110 points in eight straight games, including hitting better than 120 in two of their last four games. Look for a total around 228.

Pick: Go over 224.5 (-110)
