The NCAAB carries on with a 19-game slate on Monday, February 20, and here you can read the best Cowboys vs. Mountaineers betting pick and odds.

West Virginia is hoping to avoid the fourth straight defeat, while Oklahoma State is looking to avoid the third loss in a row when they meet at WVU Coliseum. The Mountaineers are 5-point favorites on BookMaker Sportsbook, while the total is set at 143.5 points. These Big 12 rivals will meet for the second time this year; the Cowboys won 67-60 at home.

Cowboys were dismantled by TCU on the road

The Oklahoma State Cowboys (16-11, 14-13-0 ATS) went through their best period of the season as they recorded five consecutive wins, but returned to losing ways against the Kansas Jayhawks and TCU Horned Frogs. The Cowboys allowed a season-high 100 points in a 100-75 road loss to the Horned Frogs. It was evident they are going to lose this one after trailing by 20 at the interval. Oklahoma State allowed 68.4% from the field to the hosts and lost the rebounding battle (21-33), while TCU was pretty much better in all segments.

Junior guard Bryce Thompson led the Cowboys with a game-high 18 points, four rebounds, four assists, and game-high three steals. John-Michael Wright scored 15 points, while Caleb Asberry added 12 points. Oklahoma State’s bench contributed 22 points opposite TCU’s 39.

G Avery Anderson is sidelined with a wrist injury, and it is uncertain when he will return to the lineup.

Mountaineers lost to Texas Tech on the road

The West Virginia Mountaineers (15-12, 12-15-0 ATS) returned from a two-game road trip on which they suffered losses to the Texas Longhorns and Baylor Bears, but couldn’t get a win as they lost to the Texas Tech Red Raiders 78-72. The Mountaineers played well in the opening half and had a 1-point lead at halftime, but the Red Raiders switched to a higher gear in the second 20 minutes and got a victory. The hosts did make 11 three-pointers opposite Texas Tech’s six, but the visitors were better from the foul line (14-7) and in rebounds (39-28).

Senior guard Erik Stevenson led the Mountaineers with a game-high 27 points. Kedrian Johnson added 20 points, game-high four assists, and two steals. They lacked help from teammates; nobody managed to score more than five points besides two of them.

Trends:

Oklahoma State:

  • 6-1 ATS in the last seven games after allowing more than 90 points in their previous game
  • 4-1 ATS in the last five games against West Virginia

West Virginia:

  • 2-5 ATS in the last six games overall
  • 3-7 ATS in the last ten home games
  • 3-8 ATS in the last 11 games following an ATS loss

Oklahoma State Cowboys vs. West Virginia Mountaineers Pick

The Mountaineers have a better offense than the Cowboys; West Virginia is scoring 76.3 points per game opposite Oklahoma State’s 69.7 ppg. Still, I believe a stronger defense will prevail on Monday, and the visitors are better in that segment. They are allowing 65.6 ppg, while the Mountaineers allow 70.8 ppg. West Virginia surrendered 71+ points in seven of the last eight games, and I am backing the Cowboys, who scored 71+ in seven of their previous eight, to stay close and perhaps outscore the hosts.

Pick: Take the Cowboys at +7.5 (-133)

The Total

West Virginia is struggling defensively of late and even though the Cowboys are not a highly-scoring team, they will have a decent chance to score 70+ points on Monday. Even though the Mountaineers failed to impress on offense in the last four games, they do have the potential to also score more than 70 in this one, so I expect a high-scoring affair. Over is 7-1 in the Cowboys’ last eight overall; Over is 4-0 in the Mountaineers’ previous four home games, while Over is 8-0 in West Virginia’s last eight home games vs. a team with a losing road record.

Pick: Go Over 141.5 points (-133)
