A National League West showdown begins Friday night when the Los Angeles Dodgers (19-13, 7-7 away) visit the San Diego Padres (17-15, 9-9 home). These are two of the best teams in the National League and they should be going back and forth all season for the division title. Below is my MLB pick for the Los Angeles Dodgers vs San Diego Padres.

Los Angeles Dodgers vs San Diego Padres Betting Pick

The Pick: Los Angeles Dodgers -132

This game will be played at Petco Park at 9:40 p.m. on Friday, May 5, 2023.

Why Bet the Los Angeles Dodgers:

✅ Los Angeles is red hot and have won six consecutive games.

✅ Clayton Kershaw is back to his old ways and is dealing to start the season.

✅ Against Los Angeles, the Padres have lost 13 of the last 20 meetings.

Los Angeles Dodgers Finding Some Form

Los Angeles welcomed the St. Louis Cardinals and Philadelphia Phillies to Dodger Stadium and earned two sweeps to get six games above .500. It was an impressive series against the Phillies that saw them dominate the first two games, winning 13-4 and 13-1, and come from behind in their 10-6 win in the series finale.

Clayton Kershaw is set to make his seventh start of the season and he is putting together another Kershaw like season. Through 38.0 innings pitched, the future Hall of Famer has a 1.89 ERA and 0.76 WHIP.

Max Muncy is mashing this season and he leads the Dodgers with 12 home runs and 27 RBIs. Freddie Freeman has a team high .310 batting average.

The San Diego Padres Getting it Together

San Diego has had a weak part of the schedule come up and have taken care of business. The Padres won their two games series, in Mexico, against the San Francisco Giants and followed that up by winning two of three against the Cincinnati Reds. This run has gotten the Padres above .500 on the season.

Joe Musgrove is making his third start of the season and he will need to improve on his 10.80 ERA and 1.68 WHIP.

Xander Bogaerts is having a nice first season in San Diego as he leads the team with six home runs and a .291 batting average. Juan Soto has knocked in a team high 17 RBIs.
