The MLB betting action goes on Thursday, June 16, 2022, with the AL West showdown at T-Mobile Park in Seattle, so here’s the best Angels vs. Mariners betting pick along with the latest odds update on BetDSI Sportsbook

Los Angeles and Seattle lock horns for the first time in 2022 and start their 19-game regular-season series with a five-game set at T-Mobile Park. Last year, the Angels went 8-11 against the Mariners, who opened as slight home dogs for Thursday’s clash.

The Halos hope to find their mojo

Wednesday night’s games have been excluded from the analysis, and the 29-34 Los Angeles Angels were looking to snap their two-game skid in the closing contest of a two-game interleague series against the LA Dodgers. Back on Tuesday, the Halos suffered a 2-0 defeat, finishing with just three hits on the night.

The Angels got off to a hot start to the season, but they’ve been horrible over the last few weeks. That 2-0 loss at the Dodgers was Halos’ 17th defeat in the previous 19 outings at any location. Through its first 13 showings in June, Los Angeles has gone 2-11 with a 4.31 ERA, 1.46 WHIP, and 36 runs scored on a miserable .207/.274/.332 slash line.

Shohei Ohtani will toe the rubber Thursday and aim for his second straight win. Last Thursday, the 27-year-old righty tossed seven frames of a one-run ball in a 5-2 home victory over the Boston Red Sox. Ohtani is 4-4 with a 3.64 ERA, 3.21 FIP, and 71/13 K/BB ratio in ten starts (54.1 innings) in 2022.

The Mariners have dropped two straight series

The Seattle Mariners continue to play in an on-off form. They’ve lost three of their last four games and six of the previous 11. The Mariners suffered a 5-0 defeat to the Minnesota Twins on Wednesday afternoon and dropped their second consecutive series.

Seattle is now sitting at 28-35 for the season, occupying the fourth spot in the AL West. The Mariners are 7-7 in June, scoring 52 on a .222/.319/.373 triple-slash in the process while posting a 3.82 ERA and 1.17 WHIP.

George Kirby will take the mound Thursday, and the 24-year-old righty is 1-1 with a 3.65 ERA, 1.13 WHIP, and 35/4 K/BB ratio through seven starts (37 innings) in his rookie season. Last Saturday, Kirby pitched five frames in a no-decision against the Boston Red Sox, surrendering five runs (three earned) on six hits and a walk.

Los Angeles Angels vs. Seattle Mariners Pick

The Angels have to take advantage of Shohei Ohtani’s presence on the mound. Last week, they snapped a horrible 14-game losing streak thanks to Ohtani’s stellar pitching against the loaded Red Sox lineup. Of course, the Halos’ offense will have to get things going, and I like their chances versus George Kirby.

The Mariners’ rookie has allowed four home runs over his last two starts and seven across his first seven appearances in the big leagues. Ohtani hit a two-run homer in his previous turn in the Angels’ rotation.

Pick: Take Los Angeles Angels at -115

The Total:

Both bullpens have struggled through the first two weeks of June. The Angels hold a 4.82 ERA and 5.20 FIP, while the Mariners own a 4.29 ERA and 5.33 FIP. Hereof, I’m backing the over on the totals, looking for both teams to score a couple of runs down the stretch.

On the other hand, neither team has impressed at the plate. Still, there are plenty of dangerous weapons on both sides, and the line has been set pretty low. Seven of the last nine encounters between the Angels and Mariners have produced runs in double digits.

Pick: Go over 7.5 runs at -110
