The 2022 Stanley Cup betting action is heating up with Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals between Carolina and New York on Saturday, May 28, so we bring you the best Hurricanes vs. Rangers betting pick and odds.

According to MyBookie Sportsbook, it’s a pick ‘em contest at Madison Square Garden in New York, while the totals are set at 5.5 goals. The Hurricanes are one win away from the conference finals following a 3-1 home victory in Game 5 this past Thursday.

The Canes continue to dominate on the home ice

The Carolina Hurricanes reminded us why their scoring defense was the No. 1 in the NHL last regular season. They held the Rangers to a paltry 17 shots in Game 5 while recording 17 takeaways. It was Carolina’s ninth consecutive victory at PNC Arena in Raleigh, as the Canes remained unbeaten on the home ice this postseason.

Teuvo Teravainen, Andrei Svechnikov, and Vincent Trocheck all found the back of the net in Game 5. Teravainen increased his postseason tally to four goals and seven assists, while Tony DeAngelo made his eighth assist of the 2022 Stanley Cup.

Antti Raanta got another starting call last Thursday, as Frederik Andersen continued to recover from a lower-body injury. Raanta has done a superb job in the Rangers series, posting a .937 save percentage and one shutout.

The Rangers hope to bounce back at The Garden

The New York Rangers have scored only a couple of goals through their three showings at PNC Arena in this series. They’ve won Games 3 and 4 at Madison Square Garden, 3-1 and 4-1, so the Rangers hope for another strong performance in front of the home fans.

Mika Zibanejad scored his sixth goal of the postseason in Game 5 against the Hurricanes. The 29-year-old center has found the back of the net in three straight outings, but he needs more help from his teammates. Artemi Panarin has accounted for just two dishes over the previous five contests, while Chris Kreider has one goal in the conference semis.

At least, Igor Shesterkin continues to impress. The 26-year-old netminder has surrendered only eight goals in the previous five tilts against the Hurricanes while posting a terrific .949 save percentage.

Trends:

Carolina:

  • 13-5 in the last 18 games overall

NY Rangers:

  • 3-9 in the last 12 games against Carolina

Carolina Hurricanes vs. New York Rangers Pick

The Hurricanes have yet to win a road clash in the 2022 Stanley Cup, and I’m backing them to break out of their funk in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference semis. Their defense is good enough to keep the Rangers in check, but Igor Shesterkin might be a problem.

The odds tell the story. This game could easily go either way, and I’m going with the visitors, hoping their defense will replicate a strong display from the previous contest. The Rangers are not a top-notch offensive side, especially when Artemi Panarin and Chris Kreider struggle to produce.

Pick: Take Carolina Hurricanes at -110

The Total:

If you like to ride the betting trends, you won’t have a dilemma in this one. The under is 5-0 in this series, as all five games went under a 5.5-goal line, and it is 13-5 in the previous 18 encounters between the Hurricanes and Rangers.

The Canes owned the lowest-scoring defense in the league in 2021-22, and the Rangers were right behind them. I lean the under, but I don’t like the odds at -145. With Shesterkin and Raanta between the pipes, the Hurricanes and Rangers shouldn’t provide a proper high-scoring affair.

Pick: Go under 5.5 goals at -145
