The NCAAB is giving us plenty of action and exciting conference duels on Saturday, February 25, so make sure you don’t miss out on the best Gaels vs. Bulldogs betting pick and odds.

Gonzaga is searching for the sixth straight victory when they welcome St. Mary’s at McCarthey Athletic Center. The Bulldogs are -4.5 favorites on BetOnline Sportsbook, while the total is set at 141.5 points. These WCC rivals will meet for the second time this year; the Gaels won 78-70 in overtime at home.

Gaels beat Pacific to celebrate the WCC title share

The No. 15 St. Mary’s Gaels (25-5, 16-11-2 ATS) bounced back from a road overtime loss to the Loyola Marymount Lions and answered with four consecutive victories. The most recent one came against the Pacific Tigers at home after which the Gaels clinched at least a share of the West Coast Conference regular-season title. St. Mary’s will conclude its regular season campaign with this tilt at Gonzaga. The Gaels shot 49.2% from the field, made eight triples opposite Pacific’s four, and dominated the assists (15-5), while the hosts forced even 19 turnovers and committed only six on the other end.

Senior guard Logan Johnson led the Gaels in a blowout 83-52 victory with a game-high 29 points, a game-high seven assists, and two steals. Alex Ducas added 17 points, game-high seven rebounds, and game-high four blocks, Mitchell Saxen had 11 points, six boards, and two rejections, while Augustus Marciulionis chipped in ten points, four rebounds, and two thefts off the bench.

Bulldogs defeated San Diego at home

The No. 12 Gonzaga Bulldogs (24-5, 10-17-1 ATS) responded to an overtime road defeat to the Gaels with five straight wins. The Bulldogs returned home from a two-game road trip on which they beat the Loyola Marymount Lions and Pepperdine Waves, and secured a comfortable 97-72 victory over the San Diego Toreros. Gonzaga was excellent from the floor (54.9%), hit ten more free throws than the Toreros (12-2), and was better in both rebounds (45-26) and assists (23-16).

Senior forward Drew Timme led the Gaels with a double-double of game-high 22 points and game-high 13 rebounds. Ben Gregg contributed 18 points and seven boards, Julian Strawther scored 17, while Nolan Hickman had ten points and game-high five assists.

Trends:

St. Mary’s:

  • 8-3 ATS in the last 11 Saturday games
  • 16-1 SU in the last 17 games
  • 7-1 SU in the last eight games on the road

Gonzaga:

  • 1-9-1 ATS in the last 11 games following an ATS win
  • 10-22-2 ATS in the last 34 games overall
  • 3-8 ATS in the last 11 games after scoring more than 90 points in their previous game

St. Mary’s Gaels vs. Gonzaga Bulldogs Pick

St. Mary’s already secured at least a share of the WCC regular season title, so the pressure will be on the Bulldogs to get a win here after losing to the Gaels earlier this year. Gonzaga does have the highest-scoring offense in the country that is averaging 87.8 points per game, but they are facing a top 5 defense in college basketball that allows 58.7 ppg. The Gaels kept the Zags to 70 points (overtime included) in the win earlier this month, and although it’s going to be hard to do it again on Saturday, I am backing this D to help in covering the spread.

Pick: Take the Gaels at +6.5 (-133)

The Total

Gonzaga scored at least 70 points in each of the last nine games, and I am backing the hosts to do it again on Saturday, even though they are playing against one of the best defenses in the country. The Zags know that they have no chance in a low-scoring affair and that they must score 70+ in order to beat the Gaels. Over is 6-0 in the Bulldogs’ last six overall; Over is 8-2 in Gonzaga’s previous ten home games, while Over is 5-1 in the Gaels’ last six Saturday games.

Pick: Go Over 139.5 points (-133)
