Philadelphia and Milwaukee will wrap up their three-game National League series at American Family Field on Thursday, June 9, 2022, so we bring you the best Phillies vs. Brewers betting pick and odds.

According to BetOnline Sportsbook, the Brewers are -162 home favorites. The Phillies sit at +149 moneyline odds, while the totals are listed at 7.5 runs.

The Phillies pulled off an upset in Tuesday’s opener in Milwaukee

The Philadelphia Phillies outlasted the Milwaukee Brewers 3-2 as slight +100 road underdogs this past Tuesday. It was their fifth victory in a row, as the Phillies improved their record to 26-29. They finished the previous week with a three-game sweep over the slumping Los Angeles Angels.

The Phillies entered the ninth inning of Tuesday’s clash with a one-run deficit. Matt Vierling and Alec Bohm homered off Josh Hader, handing the Brewers’ superstar closer his first loss in 2022. Ranger Suarez tossed seven frames of a two-run ball, while Corey Knebel recorded his tenth save of the season.

Zach Eflin will toe the slab Thursday in Wisconsin, and the 28-year-old righty carries a 2-4 record, 3.88 ERA, and 1.14 WHIP through 51 innings (nine starts) this season. He’s been pretty unpredictable thus far. After surrendering seven earned runs in an 8-2 defeat at the New York Mets on May 28, Eflin threw eight scoreless innings in a 10-0 victory to the LA Angels this past Friday.

The Brewers hope to break out of their funk

The Milwaukee Brewers extended their losing streak to four games following Tuesday’s defeat to the Phillies. Rookie Jason Alexander tossed five frames of a one-run ball, and three relievers kept the Phillies off the scoreboard, but Josh Hader had his first bad day in the office this season.

The Brewers dropped to 33-24, still topping the NL Central, but the St. Louis Cardinals were only half a game behind them. Milwaukee desperately needs more from its offense which has accounted for an abysmal .190/.275/.264 slash line in the last seven days.

Corbin Burnes will take the mound Thursday, and he’s 3-3 with a strong 2.50 ERA, 0.92 WHIP, and 84/13 K/BB ratio in 68.1 innings (11 starts) in 2022. The reigning NL Cy Young Award champ struggled last Friday, yielding five earned runs on eight hits and a couple of walks through 3.2 innings of work in a 7-0 defeat to the San Diego Padres.

Trends:

Philadelphia:

  • 2-5 in the last seven games on the road

Milwaukee:

  • 4-1 in Corbin Burnes’ last five starts

Philadelphia Phillies vs. Milwaukee Brewers Pick

I’m looking for Corbin Burnes to bounce back from his previous outing and help the Brewers to get one in the win column. This Philadelphia team is way more dangerous when hitting the southpaws and owns just four hits and a .258 slugging percentage in 18 at-bats against Burnes.

Of course, the Brewers’ pitching staff will need help from its offense. Milwaukee has ten hits in 45 at-bats against Zach Eflin and a 117 OPS+ against the right-handed starting pitchers in 2022. Hopefully, the Brewers will find a way to hit well in this matchup.

Pick: Take Milwaukee Brewers at -162

The Total:

Zach Eflin is a wild card, while the Phillies’ bullpen has amassed a 2-3 record, 2.20 ERA, and 3.94 FIP over the last ten days. During that stretch, the Brewers’ relievers have amassed a 2-4 record, 4.23 ERA, and 4.81 FIP.

Milwaukee’s bullpen hasn’t impressed, but Corbin Burnes could easily shut down the Phillies. I lean the under, but Milwaukee to win remains my best Phillies vs. Brewers betting pick.

Pick: Go under 7.5 runs at -116
