A potential National League Championship Series preview begins Monday night when the Philadelphia Phillies (15-14, 7-9 away) visit the Los Angeles Dodgers (16-13, 9-6 home). These are two of the better teams in the National League and both are playing well. Below is my MLB pick for the Phillies vs Dodgers.
Philadelphia Phillies vs Los Angeles Dodgers Betting Pick
The Pick: Los Angeles Dodgers -167 at BetAnySports
This game will be played at Dodger Stadium at 10:10 p.m. on Monday, May 1, 2023.
Why Bet the Los Angeles Dodgers:
✅ Los Angeles has been good of late and have won six of their last eight games played.
✅ The Phillies lost three of their last four games at Dodger Stadium.
✅ Philadelphia had to play on Sunday Night Baseball and will have to travel from Houston to Los Angeles in a quick turnaround. The Dodgers were home all weekend.
Philadelphia Phillies Have a Tough Schedule
The Philadelphia Phillies are in the middle of a tough portion of their schedule, but it seems to have lit a flame under them as they have started to play well. Philadelphia is coming off a weekend in Houston that saw them take two of three from the team that beat them in the World Series. The Phillies won the first two games of the series and then lost a tough series finale on Sunday Night Baseball.
Taijuan Walker is set to make his sixth start of the season and he will look to improve on his 4.97 ERA and 1.38 WHIP in 25.1 innings pitched.
The Phillies have been balanced at the dish as Brandon Marsh leads the way with a .329 batting average, Kyle Schwarber has mashed six home runs, and Alec Bohm has knocked in a team high 21 RBIs.
The Los Angeles Dodgers Got a Much-Needed Sweep
Los Angeles was coming off a series loss to the, surprising, Pittsburgh Pirates and needed a nice bounce back over the weekend. They got exactly that as they hosted the struggling St. Louis Cardinals and swept them right out of Dodger Stadium. The Dodgers pitching staff did not allow more than three runs in any game and the offense scored six runs in two of the three wins.
Tony Gonsolin is set to make his second start of the season and he was solid in his first outing, throwing 3.1 shutout innings.
Max Muncy has been mashing this season as he leads the Dodgers with 11 home runs and 22 RBIs. Freddie Freeman has a team high .292 batting average.
