A National League series gets underway Thursday night when the Milwaukee Brewers (8-4, 3-3 away) visit the San Diego Padres (7-6, 3-3 home). Both teams enter this series having lost their previous series, and one team will be hoping to take at least three of four in this one. Below is my MLB pick for the Brewers vs Padres.
Milwaukee Brewers vs San Diego Padres Betting Pick
The Pick: San Diego Padres -141 @ Bovada
This game will be played at Petco Park at 9:40 p.m. on Thursday, April 13, 2023.
Why Bet the San Diego Padres:
✅ San Diego has been better the past week as they have won four of their last six games played.
✅ The Padres have been good against the NL Central, having won nine of their last 10 games against Central Division opponents.
✅ Milwaukee has lost three of their six road games this season.
Milwaukee Brewers are Not Enjoying the West Coast
The Brewers have had a strong start to the 2023 season, but their road trip to the West Coast did not start well. Milwaukee visited the Arizona Diamondbacks, an early season surprise team, and lost the first and third games, by a combined 10-3 score, while winning the middle game 7-1.
Milwaukee has yet to name a starter for Thursday’s game and it may be a bullpen game as they gear up for this four-game series. Garrett Mitchell is leading the team with a .316 batting average, Willy Adames has hit a team high three home runs, and Brian Anderson has knocked in a team leading 10 RBIs.
The San Diego Padres are Happy to be Home
San Diego finished up one of their toughest road trips they will have all season and must be happy to be back in sunny San Diego. The Padres finished up their East Coast road trip by losing two of three at the New York Mets. After losing the first game of the series, San Diego got the better of New York in the second game before losing the final one on Wednesday,
Nick Martinez will take the mound for the third time this season and will look to improve on his 6.17 ERA. Xander Bogaerts leads San Diego with a .327 batting average, four home runs, and 10 RBIs.
