An American League West battle continues Saturday night when the Houston Astros (17-15, 9-4 away) visit the Seattle Mariners (15-17, 7-10 home). These two teams will most likely be battling for the AL West title come the end of the season, so this could be a good measuring stick for both teams. Below is my MLB pick for the Houston Astros vs Seattle Mariners.

Houston Astros vs Seattle Mariners Betting Pick

The Pick: Houston Astros -103

This game will be played at T-Mobile Park at 9:40 p.m. on Saturday, May 6, 2023.

Why Bet the Houston Astros:

✅ Houston has been good on the road having won seven of their last eight away from Minute Maid Park.

✅ Against Seattle, the Astros have won five consecutive meetings.

✅ At home, the Mariners have lost six consecutive meetings with Houston.

Houston Astros Are Good on the Road

Houston has won nine of their 13 road games this season and is playing much better ball away from Minute Maid Park. Entering this weekend series in Seattle, the Astros hosted the San Francisco Giants and lost tow of three. The Astros got the weekend started in a good way with a  6-4 win Friday night, but prior to the game they learned they will be without pitcher Luis Garcia until next season.

J.P. France is set to make his first career appearance in the majors, and it will be a tough task against this talented Mariners offense.

Yordan Alvarez has been mashing this season and he leads the Astros with seven home runs and 30 RBIs. Mauricio Dubon is batting a team high .292.

The Seattle Mariners Need to Get it Going

Seattle will hope their mid-week sweep of the Oakland Athletics sparks a longer run that they need to go on. The Mariners won three tight games against the worst team in baseball but could not couple that into a series opener win against the Astros. Seattle will hope to win the next two games for the series win.

Marco Gonzales is set to make his sixth start of the season and he will look to improve on his 4.74 ERA and 1.46 WHIP through 24.2 innings pitched.

The Mariners have been balanced at the dish as Jarred Kelenic has a .302 batting average to the lead way, Teoscar Hernandez has mashed a team high seven home runs, and Eugenio Suarez has knocked in 17 runs.
