We are still a few months away from the start of the 2023 NFL season, but it will be here before you know it. Betting odds have already been set for the Week 1 matchups, and all of those games are ready for some action.
The NFL continues to try to set up some great matchups in the first week of the season, and that’s the case this year as well. The action will start on Thursday night, before a full slate of weekend games.
Here is an early look at the betting odds for Week 1.
NFL Kickoff Game: Detroit Lions vs. Kansas City Chiefs -7.0
Once again the defending Super Bowl champions will begin the season as the Kansas City Chiefs will open play at Arrowhead Stadium. The league could have gone a couple of different ways with an opponent for the Chiefs, but they chose the Detroit Lions to come to town.
Detroit is going to be a popular and trendy pick heading into 2023 as that franchise looks like it might be turning a corner soon. The Lions are still pretty big underdogs in Week 1, and that makes sense when dealing with Patrick Mahomes and company.
This line could end up moving a bit either direction depending on what takes place during the preseason.
Sunday Week 1
28 teams will take the field on Sunday in Week 1 as the league has loaded up the schedule. There are some terrific matchups on the schedule, including some divisional battles to begin the year.

Tennessee Titans vs. New Orleans Saints -3.5
San Francisco 49ers -3.0 vs. Pittsburgh Steelers
Arizona Cardinals vs. Washington Commanders -6.5
Green Bay Packers vs. Chicago Bears -2.5
Las Vegas Raiders vs. Denver Broncos -3.0
Miami Dolphins vs. Los Angeles Chargers -2.5
Philadelphia Eagles -4.5 vs. New England Patriots
Los Angeles Rams vs. Seattle Seahawks -5.5
Dallas Cowboys -3.0 vs. New York Giants
There are a couple of games that stand out right away with the first one being an NFC North matchup in Chicago. The Bears are 2.5-point betting favorites over the Green Bay Packers and that could signal some changing in rankings in that division.
The Miami Dolphins visit the Los Angeles Chargers in what should be a terrific game, and the Sunday Night Football Game is going to be great as well. Dallas will head to New York to face the Giants and both teams have a shot to win the NFC this season.
Monday Night Football: Buffalo Bills -1.5 vs. New York Jets
Week 1 of the NFL season will wrap up with a terrific matchup on Monday Night Football between AFC East rivals. The Buffalo Bills are slim favorites on the road in this game, but the New York Jets should provide a massive test.
Aaron Rodgers will make his debut at quarterback for the Jets in this game, and New York will try to find a way to dethrone the previous division champions. Buffalo is still in their championship window, but things are starting to close a bit.
The NFL always wants a huge matchup to round out Week 1, and that’s exactly what you have in this game.
