Salzburg tops the Group B, winning all its four Europa League games this season including a 3-2 victory over RB Leipzig on the road in the opener. However, Salzburg still needs one point out of its next two matchups with RB Leipzig and Celtic to secure the knock-out phase, while RB Leipzig is 2nd-placed with a couple of wins and losses on its account and the German team will have to look for a win on this one.

The Red Bulls from Salzburg are still unbeaten this season in 27 games in all competitions, recording 23 wins and four ties which is an impressive record. However, it’s nothing unusual for Salzburg, as they were undefeated in six months and 35 consecutive games last season before losing to Lazio 4-2 in the first leg of the UEFA Europa League Quarterfinals. Salzburg doesn’t have big names in its’ squad, but they prefer an attacking approach, playing a high pressure without a ball and always looking to get some chances through a direct-passing game. They’ve scored 14 goals in four Europa League games this season, conceding five in a return, while Salzburg bagged eight goals in two matchups with the Norwegian champions Rosenborg, beating them 3-0 at home and 5-2 on the road.
The Israeli striker Munas Dabbur is leading the way for Salzburg with whopping 18 goals in 25 appearances, also adding six assists to his name. The talented 19-year old midfielder Hannes Wolf and the full-back Andreas Ulmer are the team’s best assist-makers with nine dishes apiece, while the experienced playmaker Zlatko Junuzovic is a key player in the middle of the park, scoring four goals and seven assists in 18 apps this season. The head-coach Marco Rose has some problems to field his best eleven, as the attacking midfielder Reinhold Yabo is sidelined with an ankle injury, whilst the playmaker Amadou Haidara is questionable due to knee problems.
- Salzburg won 14 of its last 16 games in all competitions
- Salzburg recorded eight wins and two ties in its last ten home games
- Salzburg conceded in seven of its last 11 tilts
- 15 of Salzburg’s last 18 games had at least three goals in total
The Red Bulls from Leipzig are coming off a 1-0 defeat at Wolfsburg to put an end to their 10-game streak without a loss in the German Bundesliga. RB Leipzig is playing well recently, recording a clean sheet in seven of its last nine games in all competitions, but they’ve lost at Celtic 2-1 in the previous round of the Europa League. It was Leipzig’s second defeat in this campaign following a 3-2 loss to Salzburg in the opening game, so the German side will have to look for a couple of wins in the next two games, as RB Leipzig will host Rosenborg after a matchup at Salzburg.
The striker Yussuf Poulsen is the team’s leading scorer with nine goals in 20 appearances this season, while forwards Timo Werner and Jean-Kevin Augustin are right behind with eight goals apiece. The skillful attacking midfielder Kevin Kampl is the best assist-maker with five dimes in 20 apps in all competitions, also adding a couple of goals to his name. The manager Ralf Rangnick will miss his Emil Forsberg, as the talented playmaker is recovering from a groin injury, but all other important first-team players should be ready to go.
- RB Leipzig won eight of its last 12 games along with a pair of ties and losses
- RB Leipzig has a 4-3-3 record in its last ten games on the road
- RB Leipzig conceded in six of its last eight tilts on the road
- 8 of RB Leipzig’s last 15 games had at least three goals in total
This is one of the most intriguing games this week that interest many bettors around the world, as both Salzburg and RB Leipzig are under the patronage of Red Bull company. Likewise, both teams prefer an attacking style of play, so many expect to see plenty of chances here and probably a bunch of goals. Hereof, betting on the over 3.5 goals at +130 odds should be a nice wager, as we’ve seen five goals in their first H2H duel in Round 1.
Despite the fact that RB Leipzig is listed as a favorite, I wouldn’t write off the hosts, as they are a well-coordinated team with a lot of talented players capable to constantly pressure the ball all over the pitch. Salzburg is still unbeaten this season, and Marco Rose boys would certainly like to maintain their streak, as one point will be enough to secure the 1st spot in Group B. I’ll take a draw here, although Salzburg’s streak sounds ridiculous, as a 2-2 correct score at +1100 odds works for both sides.
The Pick: Both teams to score YES & Over 3 goals (+160)
Additional Pick: Tie (+280)
