Las Vegas NFL SuperContest Weekly Recap: Week 17

0

The 2019 Westgate SuperContest is in the books. It Aint Breezy finished the champion with 59 points at 58-25-2. Unfortunately for Crispr, who entered the final week in second place, there was only one difference of opinion and it wasn’t on opposite sides of a game. The entries matched across four of their five picks, with the Titans, Colts, Giants, and Rams on both cards. The lone difference was that the champ had the Saints and Crispr had the Bears. Both won, but even if the Saints had failed to cover, it wouldn’t have been enough.

Crispr finished second with 57.5 points and a tremendous showing at 56-26-3. Pro’s And Con’s finished third with 56 points. Tuco was fourth with 55.5 points and there was a four-way tie for fifth with 55 points. There was a seven-way tie for ninth with 54.5 points.

Those are a lot of happy people to start off the week after some very nice cashes in the SuperContest. The top 100 plus ties get something for their time and efforts. The cut-off for the money wound up being 51 points with a multi-way tie for 79th place. In total, 102 out of the 3,328 entries picked up a piece of the prize pool. There were 37 entries that finished just a half-point out of the money.

There was a three-way tie for the $15,000 Mini Contest prize between For Brooke, Primetime Revet, and Run It Up 1 with 13-1-1 records. Primetime Revet went 5-0 and the other entries went 4-1 to finish out the contest.

The winner-take-all SuperContest Gold did go to the entry titled Walter Payton with a record of 53-31-1 and 53.5 points. That was one point better than IG:ThisIsWalkerAt, who did as well as he or she could with a 5-0 record. Walter Payton just came up with a 4-1, with a lone loss on the Giants. The entries matched across three picks with the Titans, Bears, and Rams. That left a very small margin for error and Baltimore’s win and cover over the Steelers sealed the $585,000 prize for Walter Payton.

The Ravens win and cover against the Steelers sealed a prize of a much smaller stature for BangTheBook Radio host Adam Burke. The BangTheBook.com entry was going to win the season race no matter what, but Adam won the season-long dinner bet on games that featured a difference of opinion. Those games ended 8-4 in Adam’s favor overall and 4-3 in individual games with a difference of opinion, since the games were counted twice if they were different in both the SuperContest and the Circa Million.

Overall, though, it was a fairly disappointing season for our BangTheBook entries. Adam’s Podcast entry wrapped up 41-42-2 with a 3-2 final effort. Winners on the Falcons, Ravens, and Chiefs weren’t enough to get over .500 for the season, as the losses on the Giants and Packers loomed too large.

The BangTheBook.com entry turned in a final week card of 2-3, with winners on the Titans and Saints and losers on the Colts, Giants, and Steelers. That entry finished with site bragging rights at 44-39-2.
