St. John’s Red Storm at Butler Bulldogs Odds Preview
The Red Storm had no trouble getting past the No. 10 Creighton Bluejays in their last game, 91-71. With 19 points, 10 assists and six rebounds, Rasheem Dunn had a solid game for St. John’s. St. John’s made 14 of their 22 three pointers (63.6 percent). Creighton, on the other hand, was just 4-27 (14.8 percent).
In the Bulldogs’ previous outing, they blew out the DePaul Blue Demons, 60-42. With 13 points on 4-for-12 shooting, Sean McDermott was the game’s high scorer. Butler dominated every stat category in the contest. They had a turnover percentage of 15.0 (better than their season average of 15.5) and an effective field goal percentage of 0.458 (below their season average of 0.522). DePaul was 22.8 and 0.343, respectively, for those same stats.
These two schools have already met once this season. The Bulldogs won 60-58. Butler had a much better offensive rebounding percentage (40.6 vs. 13.2). St. John’s, on the other hand, had a much better turnover percentage (9.7 vs. 29.9). Despite the loss, Nick Rutherford had a standout performance with 15 points, six steals and five assists.
When looking at effective field goal percentage, Butler figures to have a substantial advantage. The Bulldogs defense ranks 37th in effective field goal percentage allowed (0.458), while the St. John’s offense is ranked 333rd in effective field goal percentage (0.459). It will also be a tale of two styles as the fast-breaking Red Storm rank 26th in possessions per game, while the slower-paced Bulldogs rank 346th.
