Spanish Soccer Betting – Naughty Boys on Sevilla vs. Real Betis in Return of La Liga

There is no doubt about the level of excitement on the part of soccer (football) customers at BetAnySports that has been generated by announcements on the part of several governments that their leagues will be cleared for action.

La Liga, the major circuit in Spain, has been cleared to start official league action again during the week of June 8. And they are expected to get most of the details settled upon quickly, as there is not a large window between the start of group workouts, full squad training and regularly scheduled games.

A Sevilla-Real Betis matchup on June 11 or June 12 may be the lid-lifter for the restart. All the re-opening match dates are about to be announced, and may indeed be as you are reading this. The atmosphere amidst the pandemic generally calls for news to change quickly and suddenly.

Like almost all the other leagues, La Liga will play in stadia without fans, and there will be clear social distancing guidelines out in place. Counsel on this has been offered by the league office during the hiatus. But four members of the Sevilla team were recently seen violating those protocols, and that has been seen as ” incomprehensible and inadmissible,” according to an official statement released by La Liga.

The four players – Ever Banega, Lucas Ocampos, Franco Vazquez and Luuk de Jong – were willingly photographed at a social gathering of a dozen people, which was then published on Instagram. Oops. Gatherings of more than ten people are prohibited.

Caught red-handed, as it were, they have copped to their mistake. Javier Tebas, the president of La Liga, was not really letting on whether there was going to be some kind of discipline handed down to them, but perhaps an example has to be made. This is nothing to take lightly – such an incident, if it took place during a period of training, could put a team down for a couple of weeks because of a quarantine. Then games are canceled, and the club finds itself with a headache in terms of expected revenues, from television and other sources. Dynamo Dresden, a team from Germany’s Bundesliga 2, had to go into quarantine because of positive COVID-19 tests, and had to stay off the field.

Tebas was quoted as saying,” In football we’re an example to society. We have to be really careful. We’re putting 180,000 jobs at risk and 1.37% of Spain’s GDP.”

In a sense, the Sevilla-Real Betis match has already been played. Knowing that people were clamoring for SOME kind of action after La Liga’s shutdown, a virtual game was arranged by Borja Iglesias of Real Betis and Sergio Reguilon of Sevilla, to happen at the same time as the “brick-and-mortar” match that was supposed to take place between the two teams. On rather short notice, they were able to draw 60,000 fans to a Twitch site to watch it through the facilities of the FIFA 20 video game software.

By the way, Betis won the game 6-5. We’re doubtful we’ll see that much scoring when the two clubs get on the “real” pitch.

Currently Real Betis is in 12th place in La Liga with 33 points, while Sevilla is a contender, sitting in third position with 47 points. Barcelona leads things with 58 points, with Real Madrid trails them by two points.La Liga intends to get the rest of its schedule concluded by the end of July.
