The Premier League continues with weekday competition here are some quick thoughts on Wednesday’s matches.
Chelsea face Bournemouth following a Sunday 3-0 win in the FA Cup. Chelsea’s squad has faced difficulties playing in so many competitions and dealing with many injuries. As of lately Chelsea have been able to find their scoring touch following a three-match scoring drought. The reserves for Chelsea have shown life as the side has been able to score eight times over the last three matches. Recent form leans towards the Chelsea in this matchup, but 1.5 spread is a bit much for a team that struggles to cover if they cannot score in the first half. Bournemouth will not want to turn this into a shootout, and Chelsea is on short rest from Sunday’s game with a short squad. Look to play under the total of 3 goals.
Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United battle in a top five match. United travel to Spurs on a five-game winning streak. United are also tied for 1st on goals allowed during the season as they play excellent defense. Both of these sides have played extended games in other competition as well are starting to feel a bit of fatigue. Spurs form has fallen as they drew with English Two (lower level) side Newport County in the FA Cup and bottom dwelling Southampton. It should prove tough to find their scoring ways against this United defense. Look for this to be a defensive match and this should stay under the 2.5 goal total, and also take United to win +230.
Manchester City faces West Bromwich at home. Manchester City seem to be running away with the Premier League title as they are 12 points clear of second place United. Scoring has not been an issue for City in any competitions this season, and they are have chance to win four different trophies. City has so many players that can score, and they are always looking to shoot. West Brom are struggling on the bottom of the league and fighting against relegation. West Brom cannot afford to sit back a play defense because they need points to climb out of the relegation zone. City have been fantastic at home and look for that to continue. Lay the 2 goal with Manchester City in this match.
Leicester City and Everton meet in a match of mid-table sides. Leicester are undefeated in their las five matches, and have scored 9 goals in the last three matches. City has held its own against the best sides in the scoring against 3 of 4 top four. The change in manager has been successful as this team has been rejuvenated. Everton on the other hand has been struggling as of late allowing two or more goals in four of the last five matches. The Everton defense has issues with pace and it is evident from the goals they have allowed. Expect the form of City to be too much for Everton. Take Leicester to win in this match +165 and look for this to go over 2.5 goals.
