Two of the top teams in the West Division square off in Regina on Friday night in CFL betting action when the Calgary Stampeders look to add to the woes of the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

It was only two weeks ago that these two teams matched wits here in Regina, and Calgary was able to escape with a 22-18 victory in a relatively low scoring game. Things haven't been bad for the Stamps since that point, as they finally came up with a truly dominating game last week against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. Sure, the defense looked terrible in the first half, allowing all 20 Ti-Cats points, but after that, both sides of the ball just started to rock and roll, and Hamilton just stood no chance of pulling off the victory. QB Henry Burris threw for 341 yards and a TD, and he was able to really get a ton of receivers into the mix as well. Whereas in years past, men like Ken-Yon Rambo, Nik Lewis, or the departed Jermaine Copeland would be the stars, only Lewis had more than four catches in this game. However, nine different receivers caught passes, six of which had at least 25 yards, and seven of which had at least two catches. The 'D' was particularly impressive in the second half, allowing less than 100 yards in a shutout of the Tabbies.

There's a point that we have to look at the Riders and say that this is a must win game, and we just might be at that point. The team is already three games back in the West Division, and falling a fourth game behind and guaranteeing a loss in the tiebreaker thanks to the season series against Calgary would really be catastrophic. The time might be coming that QB Darian Durant might be told to head to the bench. He has only led this offense to 328.98 yards per game and 18.7 points per game, both figures of which are the worst in the CFL, and he has a ton of turnovers as always. Of course, he's not being helped out by the sixth ranked defense in the league at 386.0 yards per game, especially since the unit ranks dead last in scoring at 30.7 points per game. It has been quite a few years since Saskatchewan really struggled this badly, and with drastic changes needing to be made, Durant's demise might be just the shot in the arm that the club needed, at least a month and a half into the season. Perhaps the addition of WR Dallas Baker is just what the doctor ordered after he was picked up in a trade from the Montreal Alouettes.

When these two teams met up two weeks ago, we backed the Riders in this game catching two points, and we are going to do the exact same thing here with them catching 3.5 on Friday. These Riders have played just a horrendous schedule thus far this year, and at some point, the offense has to wake up and explode. Now's the time. Go with Saskatchewan +3.5 @ Bookmaker Sportsbook
