Bellucci is in just his fifth year competing professionally, and he is making his third appearance here at Roland Garros. The Brazilian was knocked out in the first round in both of his first two appearances here on the clay courts, and this is the first time that he has ever made it beyond the second round of a Grand Slam event. The 22 year old has looked fantastic in this, the biggest stage of his career, as he has only dropped one set en route to the fourth round of the tournament. His victory over #14 Ivan Ljubicic marked the first win that he has ever had over a ranked foe in a Grand Slam, and he did so in straight sets, 7-6 (7-4), 6-2, 6-4. Holding serve is going to be crucial against arguably the greatest clay court player of all-time, as Bellucci lost four service games to Ljubicic and cannot rely on getting 13 break point chances against Nadal as he did against the Croatian.

And then there is the king... Nadal has lost a grand total of one match in his career here at the French Open, and that happened to come last year on this very same match day against Robin Soderling. Few have dropped as few games in this tournament as Rafa has, as he has won his nine sets to reach the Round of 16 6-2, 6-2, 6-2, 6-2, 6-2, 6-3, 6-3, 6-4, 6-3. Nadal has faced absolutely no resistance whatsoever in spite of the fact that he has been broken four times. The Spaniard has had a first service conversion percentage of at least 68 percent in all three of his matches, a statistic that is absolutely mind-boggling, particularly on clay.

It's not that we normally recommend laying chalk like this with any sort of regularity, but the bottom line is that Nadal isn't dropping a set, let alone three sets to any 22 year old in this field. Bellucci is simply overmatched, and he should be dismissed very quickly as have the three before him that have gotten in the way of the mighty Nadal.
