No. 21 Maryland vs. Temple Betting Odds 9/14/2019

Maryland is favored by 8 points in this game. The Terrapins are currently being given -340 moneyline odds while the Owls are +260. The over/under is set at 64. With the spread currently standing at Temple +8, Vegas thinks this has the look of a 28-36 win for the Terrapins. If one side catches a lucky break early, it’ll probably produce a decent in-game betting scenario.

Sharp bettors have been hammering both the Terrapins and the over. The line originally opened at 5.5 while the total was set initially at only 62.

The Terrapins are 2-0 straight up (SU) while the Owls are 1-0 SU. The Terrapins have gained 1.0 unit so far and are 2-0 against the spread (ATS). The team has posted an O/U record of 2-0.

The Owls have gained 0.0 units this season. They’re 1-0 ATS and have an O/U record of 1-0.

The Terrapins are hoping to remain undefeated following a 63-20 victory over Syracuse last week where their secondary allowed the Orange to air it out for 330 yards and three touchdowns. Trishton Jackson was unmatched for the Orange in that one with 157 yards and two touchdowns on seven catches. On the offensive side, Josh Jackson completed just 21-of-38 passes for 296 yards, three touchdowns and one interception. Anthony McFarland Jr. (75 yards on 14 rush attempts, two TDs) and Tayon Fleet-Davis (67 yards on 11 carries, one TD) spearheaded the ground attack in the win while Tyler Mabry (four receptions, 22 yards, one TD) and Darryl Jones (three catches, 70 yards) manned the receiving duties.

Temple is coming off of a 56-12 win over Bucknell. The defense held its territory in the victory, holding the Bison to just 190 passing yards and 21 rushing yards. Brandon Sanders was a bright spot in the loss, posting 115 yards on nine catches for Bucknell. As a group, the Owls collectively completed 36-of-46 passes for 507 yards, five touchdowns and one interception. Anthony Russo went 32-for-41 for 409 yards, four touchdowns and one interception while Todd Centeio was four-of-five for 98 yards and one touchdown. Jager Gardner (54 yards on 10 rush attempts, two TDs) and Re’Mahn Davis (60 yards on nine carries, one TD) mounted the ground game in the win as Jadan Blue (10 receptions, 117 yards, one TD) and Branden Mack (nine catches, 130 yards) led the pass-catching attack.

If 2018’s results are any indication, then it seems like the Owls might have the more disruptive lines up front. Their offensive line allowed only 18 sacks last season while their D-line logged 35 sacks. The Terrapins O-line gave up 30 sacks last year and their defense created only 17 sacks.

When these two schools met last year, Temple knocked off Maryland by three touchdowns 35-14.
