NCAAB – TRENDS OF THE DAY

Today we have a pair of CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament (CIT) matchups on the menu along with the second leg duel of the College Basketball Invitational (CBI) Finals and this is the last time we’re going to have three games to work with, in our “Trends of the Day” segment this season. As usual, full coverage of these showdowns is provided to you here, with selected and ready picks in the text below. The NCAA 201-18 season is reaching its very end with Final Four just behind the corner. Let’s take a closer look at what we got left.

Here are the matchups that are on the menu today: Illinois-Chicago (19-15) at Liberty (22-14), San Francisco (22-15) at North Texas (18-18) and Sam Houston St. (21-14) at Northern Colorado (24-12).

ATS TRENDS

  • The Flames are 8-0 in their last eight road games.

The first CIT semifinal matchup that features Illinois-Chicago Flames as visitors, and Liberty Flames as hosts, is expected to be a very high-temperature duel, meaning that there shouldn’t be a blowout by either team. The ATS line favors the hosts at 6.0 points and that’s why we’ll give the advantage to the visiting Flames who are also 7-0 ATS in their last seven road games vs. a team with a winning home record. The hosts on the other side are 0-7 ATS in their last seven Wednesday games.

  • The Mean Green Eagles are 8-2 in their last 10 non-conference duels.

The first leg of CBI Finals went the Dons’ way and now it’s time for the series to go to Denton for the second matchup between these two foes. If San Francisco emerges victorious the series will be over (best-of-three) but the ATS line favors North Texas here at 3.5 points. Having in mind aforementioned trend and the fact that the Mean Green Eagles are also 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games following an ATS loss, oppose to 3-13 ATS record in last 16 games following an ATS win by the Dons, the ATS edge here goes to the home team so pick the Mean Green Eagles.

  • The Bears are 13-3-1 in their last 17 non-conference games.

The Northern Colorado Bears are considered to be big favorites in the second CIT semifinal matchup with Sam Houston St. Bearkats as an opponent. The ATS line favors them at 10.5 points and it might look a bit high on the first glance but it shouldn’t present a problem for the Bears who are also 5-0 ATS in their last five home games and 16-5-1 ATS in their last 22 games vs. a team with a winning straight up record. The Bearkats on the other side are 2-5 ATS in their last seven games following an ATS win and 3-8-3 ATS in their last 13 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600. Pick the Bears.

  O/U TRENDS

  • Over is 8-1 in Flames last nine overall.

In Totals segment, the clash between two Flames has a strong high-scoring potential. Illinois-Chicago is also 5-0 O/U in last five games following a straight-up win and 5-1 O/U in last six non-conference matchups while Liberty stands at 5-0 O/U in last five Wednesday games. The line that is set at 142.5 shouldn’t present a problem for these two squads so pick Over.

  • Under is 41-17 in Dons last 58 games following an ATS win.

Today’s CBI matchup has a fair low-scoring potential according to both teams recent trends. The Dons are also 1-5-1 O/U in their last seven non-conference games and 10-22 O/U in their last 32 games following a straight-up win while the Mean Green Eagles stand at 1-4 O/U in their last five home games vs. a team with a losing road record and 2-5 O/U in their last seven home games vs. a team with a road winning % of less than .400. The line is set at 143.0 points, making the “Under” pick a near mismatch.

  • Over is 9-2-1 in Bears last 12 home games.

Even though our final matchup from the list features the weakest Totals’ case, we’ll still advise you to go Over the 149.0 points line that is set here because the Northern Colorado Bears are capable of scoring as much as 70% of points needed to overcome this spot by them self. They are also 4-1 O/U in last five non-conference games and 8-2-1 O/U in their last 11 home games vs. a team with a losing road record. Pick Over.
