NCAAB – TRENDS OF THE DAY
The first weekend of this year’s March Madness has arrived as we enter the Second Round matchups including a pair of duels in NIT and CIT. There are a total of 10 games on the schedule today and as usual, you can check out every single one of them here. On the other side, you can also let us do the business for you and save you enough time to put your attention to other things, while still managing to take some green out of the bookies’ pockets and put it in yours.
In a regular-season schedule, almost every today’s matchup would qualify as the game of the week, but there are exactly eight in our opinion most interesting ones: Alabama (20-15) vs. Villanova (31-4), Rhode Island (26-7) vs. Duke (27-7), Buffalo (27-8) vs. Kentucky (25-10), Loyola-Chicago (29-5) vs. Tennessee (26-8), Seton Hall (22-11) vs. Kansas (28-7), Ohio State (25-8) vs. Gonzaga (31-4), Florida (21-12) vs. Texas Tech (25-9) and Houston (27-7) vs. Michigan (29-7).
- The Cougars are 8-2-1 in their last 11 games vs. a team with a winning straight up record.
The matchup between the West Region No. 6 Houston Cougars and No. 3 Michigan Wolverines favors the Wolverines at 3.5 points. Still, my guess here is the Cougars, considering that they are also 5-1 ATS in their last six neutral site games while the Wolverines stand at 1-6 ATS in their last seven games after allowing less than 50 points in their previous game.
- The Red Raiders are 0-7-1 in their last eight games overall.
The Texas Tech Red Raiders feature a number of very cold ATS trends and we’re not going to miss it this time. They’re squaring off with the Florida Gators who are 5-1 ATS in last six games vs. Big 12. Pick the Gators.
- The Jayhawks are 8-0-1 in their last nine games vs. a team with a winning % above .600.
One of the highest ATS lines today (4.5) favors the Kansas Jayhawks over the Seton Hall Pirates and in our opinion, the Jayhawks shouldn’t have any problems in matching it. The Jayhawks are also 4-0 ATS in their last four games overall while the Pirates are 1-4 ATS in their last five NCAA Tournament games.
- The Wildcats are 7-1 in their last eight neutral site games.
The Villanova Wildcats should justify their role as the top contender for the title and take down the Alabama Crimson Tide who are 0-4 ATS in their last four vs. Big East both straight up and ATS.
- Under is 8-2 in Buckeyes last 10 neutral site games.
Probably the most interesting second-round duel in the West Region between Ohio State Buckeyes and Gonzaga Bulldogs features a very strong low-scoring potential. The Buckeyes are also 7-20 O/U in last 27 games following a straight-up win while the Bulldogs stand at 1-4 O/U in last five NCAA Tournament games.
- Under is 10-2 in Volunteers last 12 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600.
The strongest low-scoring potential of the day comes from the matchup between Loyola-Chicago Ramblers and Tennessee Volunteers. The Volunteers are also 0-6 O/U in last six non-conference games while the Ramblers stand at 0-6 O/U in last six overall duels.
- Over is 9-0 in Wildcats last nine non-conference games.
The clash between South Region No. 13 Buffalo Bulls and No. 5 Kentucky Wildcats holds the strongest high-scoring potential of the day. The Wildcats are also 8-1 O/U in last nine games overall while the Bulls stand at 12-5-1 in last 18 games overall.
- Under is 8-1 in Blue Devils last nine overall.
Another showdown that should end below the Totals line features Rhode Island Rams and Duke Blue Devils. The Blue Devils are also 1-6 O/U in last seven games vs. Atlantic 10 while the Rams are 2-5 O/U in last seven overall.
