An abbreviated slate of college basketball games today, where we have some pretty good matchups, along with some games that leave a little bit to be desired. Lines are moving fast and furious this morning, especially a few of the smaller-school games that the public tends to shy away from. We’ll look at a few of the games.
Game 734, Kennesaw State at Jacksonville: This game is even, which doesn’t appear to make a whole lot of sense, considering Jacksonville is 14-17 straight up and Kennesaw is 10-19. But Kennesaw State has played a much tougher schedule and I actually have them winning by 16 points. It’s not easy taking a road team that is just 2-13 on the road, especially when the team they’re playing is 9-6 at home in a revenge spot, but the line on this game is what it is for a reason. The betting has been pretty even against the overnight line, so have to give a lean to the road team in this one.
Game 728, Texas Tech at West Virginia: The Mountaineers are favored by 6.5 and the total is 141 in this one, which is a revenge game for West Virginia. I have this one 70-69 for the home team and have to give the points a good look here, as two of the last three games have been decided by a point. West Virginia is just 1-3 this season revenging a loss on the road and think this one could be another game that comes down to the wire.
Game 736, Stetson at Lipscomb: Lipscomb is favored by 13 in this one and the line hasn’t really moved, as Stetson is getting roughly 60% of the wagers. Lipscomb won the first meeting between the two this season 82-73 and should be able to extend their margin of victory in this one. I have Lipscomb winning by 20 and will give a good look to the home team, as they should be fired up for a rare ESPN3 appearance in front of the home fans.
Game 732, SC Upstate at Florida Gulf Coast: UFGC is favored by 19 in this one and I have them winning by 17, but think the underdog could be worth a good look in this spot. Gulf Coast won by 17 earlier in the season and also won the last game played a year ago by 17, so there’s no real motivation in this one against a team that can score some points, but also allows more than their fair share.
