What a weekend in Major League Baseball! It was a lot to keep up with. Fortunately, Adam Burke was monitoring it all over the weekend in advance of the Monday recording of The Bettor’s Box. BangTheBook’s MLB betting podcast has had a great first season and with the playoff stretch run officially underway, the quality of the show should only improve. You won’t find better baseball betting analysis or insight anywhere else.

Listeners of the show can also hit Adam up on Twitter at his handle, @SkatingTripods, to talk baseball betting, topics for the show, or any other sport at BangTheBook. He’s always willing to discuss baseball, as well as the other sports. Don’t hesitate to ask him for more clarification about sabermetrics or about the observations that he has seen in previous games.

Some big sweeps were completed over the weekend as the Chicago Cubs, Pittsburgh Pirates, and Toronto Blue Jays all had outstanding results. The Cubs sweep of the Giants led off the show because it was arguably the most surprising, since it was a four-game sweep and over the reigning World Series champions. A lot of interesting developments came to the forefront and Adam covered what he felt this series meant to both teams.

The Pirates took advantage of the Dodgers bullpen to complete the sweep on Sunday. Will Don Mattingly be able to make the right adjustments to push the Dodgers to where they should be? Are the Pirates going to be able to sustain this type of pace without AJ Burnett? With the Blue Jays, they have now won 11 of 12 and shut out the Yankees in back-to-back games over the weekend. What happens now for these two clubs?

Looking down the lines, some more big chalk moves took place over the weekend and affected the betting market. What did the moves of this past weekend tell us about the feelings of bettors and oddsmakers? This segment included Adam’s pick for Monday night, which was one of his strongest opinions of the season.

Adam also went MLB Mythbusting on this episode of The Bettor’s Box, talking about some of his pet peeves that people like to use for daily fantasy or to break down games. In what could be a controversial segment for some, Adam talked about his personal preferences and beliefs with betting on baseball and why a lot of selling points are not significant enough to be taken seriously.

If the series that piqued Adam’s interest early in the week are any indication, Thursday’s show should be great. There are some very compelling matchups this week, including some possible letdown spots for some teams that are playing really well right now. Be sure to tune into Tuesday’s Gridiron Gambling Report with Adam Burke and Cole Ryan while you wait for Thursday’s next recording of The Bettor’s Box.
