It’s Thursday and that means that Adam Burke recorded another edition of The Bettor’s Box for Radio listeners. Just because football is dominating all of the headlines right now doesn’t mean that we should forget about baseball. This twice-a-week podcast, recorded on Sunday night and Thursday mornings, is chock full of great MLB betting insight and analysis that you won’t find anywhere else. With important playoff races going on in the American League, there was plenty to discuss from the Junior Circuit on this show.

Listeners of the show can also hit Adam up on Twitter at his handle, @SkatingTripods, to talk baseball betting, topics for the show, or any other sport at BangTheBook. He’s always willing to discuss baseball, as well as the other sports. Don’t hesitate to ask him for more clarification about sabermetrics or about the observations that he has seen in previous games.

The Bettor’s Box is all about baseball, but we have all kinds of phenomenal podcast content. Adam is also on The College Football Podcast with Kyle Hunter, recorded every Monday, the Gridiron Gambling Report with Cole Ryan, recorded every Tuesday, and Football Fridays with Joe D’Amico. As you will see at the bottom of this write-up, there are several places to find our podcasts.

The AL West race has certainly gotten more interesting this week. The Texas Rangers are going for a sweep on Thursday night and they can take a 2.5-game lead into the weekend if that happens. Adam has a lot of questions about the mental state of the Houston Astros, a very young team with an inexperienced manager. Was Wednesday’s loss more damaging than the others in the series? How about the Rangers? What’s working so well for them?

Other series covered during the Beyond the Box Score segment were the Cubs vs. Pirates and the Mets vs. Marlins. Various other thoughts on Yankees right-hander Luis Severino and a long look at the St. Louis Cardinals provided a good segue into the rest of the show.

Adam tries to stress a study of the MLB betting markets on every show. By looking at the opening lines and movements, and then by analyzing and adding his thoughts to those moves, listeners are able to interpret the betting market in a similar fashion. Some interesting and suspicious line moves were discussed and Adam also took some time to beat himself up for a bet he made earlier in the week that can serve as a learning experience.

Following a pick for Friday night and some daily fantasy baseball insight, the discussion on the show shifted to the future with a lot of excellent pitchers on the mound on Friday and some key series over the weekend. The 45th show of the season of The Bettor’s Box may have been the best one yet.
