Mondays and Thursdays are special days at BangTheBook because Adam Burke posts the recording of his MLB betting podcast, The Bettor’s Box. This in-depth look around Major League Baseball covers recent observations, line moves, sabermetric stats, daily fantasy tidbits, and so much more. Most shows aren’t willing to dig deep into the numbers and data. That’s the stuff that you need in order to beat the books into submission betting on baseball.

Listeners of the show can also hit Adam up on Twitter at his handle, @SkatingTripods, to talk baseball betting, topics for the show, or any other sport at BangTheBook. He’s always willing to discuss baseball, as well as the other sports. Don’t hesitate to ask him for more clarification about sabermetrics or about the observations that he has seen in previous games.

This show began with a look Beyond the Box Score to update the aces that Adam talked about on Monday. Corey Kluber and Chris Sale, two pitchers Adam told listeners to buy on Monday’s show, were outstanding in their most recent starts. Two others struggled. If you haven’t listened to Monday’s show yet, tune in for that one, but Thursday’s update showed you just how dialed in you can be as a baseball handicapper if you listen to this show and use the tools and stats advocated on The Bettor’s Box.

Listener Justin asked about the New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox on Twitter. Is the Yankees performance to date sustainable? Can the Red Sox actually meet their PECOTA win projection of 86 games? These are two big-market teams that get a lot of public love in the betting markets, so they are always interesting to talk about. What concerns did Adam express for both teams? Listen and find out!

Line moves are always important to track because they can give handicappers an idea of how the books are valuing certain pitchers and teams and also how the betting market is reacting. There were several moves of note from earlier in the week and a move that Adam expects to see for the Thursday card. This segment also includes the pick for Thursday night.

Sabermetrics can be overwhelming and tough to interpret, but each and every episode of The Bettor’s Box has had some kind of sabermetric stat in it to help listeners increase their baseball acumen. With some that can be applied to daily fantasy sports as well, bettors are wise to pay close attention to these. Don’t be afraid to go back and listen to previous episodes to catch those statistical nuggets as well.

The weekend calendar in Major League Baseball has some excellent series for bettors to pay close attention to. Adam gave out a pick on every game of the Yankees/Royals series and also took a look at the series between the Tigers and Cardinals and Nationals and Padres.

Remember to follow Adam on Twitter (@SkatingTripods) and also be sure that you follow @BangTheBook on Twitter. The top comments, questions, and suggestions will be mentioned on the show and every Tweet sent to either handle will get a response.
