With the NBA Finals and the NHL Finals complete, the focus is solely on baseball. If you haven’t been listening to The Bettor’s Box, you have been missing out, but it’s not too late to start. Resident expert MLB handicapper Adam Burke takes to the airwaves every Monday and Thursday to break down baseball deeper than any other podcast host. This show features observations, a discussion of line moves, sabermetric analysis, and plenty of baseball betting tips and tricks to help you bang the books on the diamond.

Listeners of the show can also hit Adam up on Twitter at his handle, @SkatingTripods, to talk baseball betting, topics for the show, or any other sport at BangTheBook. He’s always willing to discuss baseball, as well as the other sports. Don’t hesitate to ask him for more clarification about sabermetrics or about the observations that he has seen in previous games.

Going Beyond the Box Score is important because it can highlight certain tendencies and trends that teams have. On this Thursday edition, the Houston Astros were under the spotlight based on their good results against the Colorado Rockies. What has made the Astros so effective this season? Is it officially time to buy in on the Astros? Other series discussed during this segment were the Oakland Athletics vs. San Diego Padres, Philadelphia Phillies vs. Baltimore Orioles, and Cincinnati Reds vs. Detroit Tigers.

With interleague play, line moves are inevitable, but Adam was surprised to see only a handful of moves that appeared to be driven by the inherent imbalance that comes from the DH in the American League. Most of the moves were pitcher-based, as the market looked to fade guys due for regression and bet on those due for positive regression. Which line moves caught Adam’s eye? What should bettors look for on Thursday night? He also included his pick for Thursday night’s action.

Sabermetric analysis is the way that Adam has the most success handicapping and he talked about stabilization points and how what we see is what we may get the rest of the season. Sample sizes are getting more and more significant and that is something that handicappers have to pay attention to. What other suggestions did Adam have? Listen to today’s show to also hear his very valuable daily fantasy baseball tip.

Finally, there are a lot of things to watch for over the weekend as some key series start up and some teams look to get back on the right track. What does Adam want listeners to focus on this weekend?
