Two Serie A matches will be played on Wednesday and although the clash between Sampdoria and Roma is also quite intriguing, we have selected the tilt between Lazio and Udinese because both teams are playing very well at the moment.
Lazio vs. Udinese
Three-Way: 1: Lazio -189; X: +320 Draw; 2: Udinese +550 at BetDSI Sportsbook
Spread -1: Lazio -108; Udinese -103
Total 2.5 goals: Over -143; Under +110
The Eagles are in an excellent form of seven matches without a defeat, and the last two games were particularly pleasing for the fans as Lazio scored ten goals in total against Spal and Chievo. SergejMilinkovic-Savic’s brace and goals from Bastos, Luis Alberto, and Nani sank Chievo, 5-1, at Stadio Olimpico and lift Lazio to the 3rd position. Simone Inzaghi’s side has 43 points, 14 ahead of Udinese and 11 behind the league leaders Napoli, but Lazio has a game in hand and if they win this one, they could even be considered as title contenders. In any case, the Champions League spot is their main objective as Inter and Roma are also in the picture for one of the UCL places.
Lazio played 29 games so far in the 2017/18, recording 20 victories, five draws, and four losses, with a goal difference of 73:35, which is 3.72 goals per contest on average. The Eagles won the previous four matches at home, two of which were in Coppa Italia, scoring 14 goals in the process and allowing just two in return.
Ciro Immobile is the team’s top scorer with 26 goals in 25 appearances, but he sustained a hamstring injury against Chievo and was forced to leave the game in the first half. Immobile is listed as doubtful for this clash and is unknown whether Inzaghi is prepared to risk a further injury by fielding him on Wednesday. SergejMilinkovic-Savic added nine goals to his name, while Luis Alberto is also one of the key contributors to the attack with eight goals. Alberto and immobile are the most creative individuals at Stadio Olimpico with nine assists apiece; Marco Parolo has eight, while Andrej Marusic recorded six dishes. Simone Inzaghi cannot count on Felipe Caicedo (thigh) and Davide Di Gennaro (muscle).
The Little Zebras are undefeated in the previous seven Serie A matches as only Napoli managed to beat them twice in the past ten games in total, both times it was 1-0 for the Light Blues, one in the league and one in Coppa Italia. Following a five-match winning streak, Udinese drew the last two with Chievo and Spal, and they are now in the 9th position with 29 points, four behind Sampdoria who is a direct rival for the Europa League spot. Massimo Oddo’s side will definitely root for Roma in a duel with Sampdoria, but they must get a positive result at Stadio Olimpico, which will not be easy against the in-form Lazio.
Udinese played 23 games in this campaign, recording 11 victories, two draws, and ten losses, with a goal difference of 45:34, which is 3.43 goals per contest on average. The Little Zebras won four out of the previous five away matches, scoring ten goals and conceding three.
Kevin Lasagna is the team’s leading scorer with nine goals to his name, while Antonin Barak with seven, and Maxi Lopez with six are following him on a goal-scoring chart. Rodrigo de Paul is the best assist-maker with seven dishes so far; Jakub Jankto has six, while Lasagna added five assists. Massimo Oddo will be without ValonBehrami (muscle) and Ali Adnan (muscle), while Gabriele Angella is listed as doubtful as he’s still recovering from a muscle injury.
Lazio vs. Udinese – Betting Trends and Match Prediction
- Lazio scored ten goals in the last two games
- Lazio won the previous four matches at home
- Lazio scored 14 goals in the past four home games
- Udinese scored at least a goal in the last seven Serie A matches
- Udinese scored in all but one away game so far in the season
Lazio won five out of the previous six H2H duels and allowed just one goal in the process, and they won the also three clashes at Stadio Olimpico. Both teams failed to score in five of those six meetings, and even though the league’s top scorer is questionable to feature here, I believe the hosts will not have any problems to find the net, while Udinese has several individuals who can score, so I am backing BTTS on this one.
MY PICK: Both teams to score YES (-133)
