Winless against Juventus since April 2010, Udinese have their work cut out against the table toppers in this Serie A game. Juventus themselves are one win away from getting eight consecutive Serie A wins at the start of a league season, for the third time in their history. The game between Udinese and Juventus will take place at the Dacia Arena on October 6th, 2018.
UDINESE vs. JUVENTUS
Three-Way: 1: Udinese +800; X: +375 Draw; 2: Juventus -278 at BetDSI Sportsbook
Spread +1.5: Udinese -120; Juventus +110
Total 2.5 goals: Over -125; Under +100
Getting the win here will be tough, on paper at least, as Udinese have failed to win their last eight Serie A home fixtures against Juventus (D3, L5), failing to score in five of those. Their current home form is equally poor with just two wins this calendar year in 12 league games (W2, D3, L7).
Their overall form (home and away) isn’t any better, with just one win in five Serie A games (W1, D1, L3). They have failed to score in just one of their seven league matches this season, but haven’t scored multiple goals since the opening day.
The Little Zebras fell short at Bologna last weekend, 2-1, even though they opened the scoring through Ignacio Pussetto in the 32nd minute. However, Federico Santander in the 42nd and the substitute Riccardo Orsolini in the 82nd minute secured three points for the hosts.
- Udinese conceded 22 goals in their last ten Serie A H2H home matches
- Udinese scored just nine and failed to find the net in five out of those ten H2H games at home
The bad news for Udinese is that Juventus recorded clean sheets in four of their last five across all competitions. Juventus have also won their last eight Serie A games and lost just once in their last 32 (W27, D4, L1) with 20 clean sheets in the process.
The Old Lady won every game in this campaign and their latest “casualty” was the Swiss champions Young Boys in the Champions League. Even without Cristiano Ronaldo, who was suspended for this clash, Juventus secured a comfortable 3-0 victory thanks to a great display and hat-trick from Paulo Dybala. Juve now has six points out of two games, two more than Manchester United and five ahead of Valencia.
- Away from home, Juventus won their last three and are unbeaten in 16 road trips (W10, D6)
- Juventus didn’t allow a goal in ten out of those 16 road matches
Juventus won ten out of the previous 13 H2H encounters including four out of the last five, while the Old Lady was victorious in five out of the past eight meetings at the Dacia Arena (with three draws). Juve lost only one game in the last 13 H2H duels and it’s clear that they like to play against Udinese and they won by two or more goals difference in three out of the last five clashes, so I am backing the visitors to secure an easy victory on this one.
MY PICK: AH +1.5 Juventus (+110)
ADDITIONAL PICK: There have been under 2.5 goals in seven of the last ten Serie A H2H matches, with Juventus keeping six clean sheets during the process, so it’s going to be hard for the hosts to score here. Still, Udinese managed to do so in three out of the last four H2H meetings including the last two at home, so I am backing the Little Zebras to find the net on this one as well, while Juventus should score at least two or three.
MY PICK: BTTS YES (+110)
