Texas Rangers (36-32) vs. New York Yankees (37-28) MLB Betting Lines

Moneyline: Yankees (-131) Rangers (+121)

Over/Under: 9.5

Starting Pitchers: Rangers (Holland) vs. Yankees (Nova)

Tuesday night’s game was delayed by rain, but once it got going the Yankees offense jumped on Alexi Ogando. Ogando suffered his first loss of the season, and the Yankees went on to win 12-4. Both teams will have a young starter going in this Wednesday night game. Expect this rematch of the American League Championship Series to be hotly contested.

The Texas Rangers are seventh in baseball in runs scored per game. Barring continued major injury problems I would expect Texas to continue to climb closer to the top of the list in runs scored. This is a team with a very strong lineup from top to bottom. Michael Young leads the team in hitting at .305. Mitch Moreland is having a breakout year in 2011. Moreland is hitting .304, and he has been red hot of late. Josh Hamilton and Nelson Cruz have both missed a significant amount of time, but I fully expect both of them to contribute in a big way as the year continues. Texas has a decent starting pitching staff, but they really themselves with bad defense. The Rangers have committed 52 errors, which is worst in the majors.

Curtis Granderson led the way in last night’s win by bashing his 21st home run and knocking in four runs. The Yankees jumped on Ogando early and they didn’t let up on Tuesday night. The bad news for the Yankees was that Derek Jeter was placed on the disabled list with a strained calf muscle in his right leg. Eduardo Nunez, who the Yankees are high on, will likely receive most of the playing time at shortstop over the next couple weeks. The Yankees are second in the majors in runs scored, and they are easily at the top of the list when it comes to home runs. Just about every guy on this roster is capable of hitting it out multiple times in one game. As the summer heats up, expect to see tons of home runs at Yankee Stadium.

Derek Holland has struggled against the Yankees in the past, and the Rangers are just 6-15 in Holland’s last 21 road starts. I like the Yankees in this one.
