New York Yankees (65-42) vs. Chicago White Sox (52-55) MLB Betting Lines from BetOnline
Moneyline: Yankees (-108) White Sox (-102)
Starting Pitchers: Yankees (Burnett) vs. White Sox (Floyd)
It’s tough to get a handle on the Chicago White Sox this season. The White Sox seem to be underachieving compared to their ability. The White Sox got back up to .500 just a few short days ago, and it looked like they were set to make a run for the top of the division. They have now lost four straight and they are in danger of losing touch in the AL Central. The Yankees have won five straight coming into this one. Can the Yankees finish off a sweep or will the White Sox salvage a win?
A.J. Burnett starts for the Yankees in this one. Burnett hasn’t been bad this season, but he hasn’t been that great either. He sports an 8-9 record with a 4.23 ERA so far this year. The Yankees continue to lead the majors in home runs. New York averages 5.26 runs per game. Alex Rodriguez is still out of the lineup, but the Yankees bats have continued to punish opposing pitchers. Mark Teixeira has at least two hits in six of the Yankees last nine games overall. Curtis Granderson and Robinson Cano have been swinging a hot bat as well.
Gavin Floyd will be on the hill for the White Sox in this one, and he has been terrific of late. Floyd has a 0.81 ERA in his last three starts. On the other hand, Floyd has a poor ERA of 5.55 at home on the year. It has been the White Sox offense that has really let them down this year. Chicago is averaging just 3.92 runs per game, which is 22nd in the majors. Paul Konerko has been the rock solid leader for the offense, but he is dinged up right now. He is listed as questionable for this matchup. Adam Dunn and Alex Rios are in ridiculous season long slumps, and the White Sox badly need them to contribute.
The Yankees are 4-11 in Burnett’s last 15 road starts. Floyd is pitching much better of late and the White Sox realize the importance of this game. I’ll take the White Sox in this one.
