One of the most storied rivalries in Major League Baseball will be renewed this weekend when the New York Yankees make the trip north to Fenway Park for a three-game set with the Boston Red Sox starting this Friday afternoon.
Both teams come into this series with a less than stellar start to the season. Heading into Thursday’s game against Minnesota, the Yankees were an even 6-6 while the Red Sox are still licking their wounds from dropping three straight to Texas at home this past week to fall to 4-8.
Hitting has not been an issue for either team as both are ranked near the top of the AL in runs scored, but pitching has been a whole other story. Through Wednesday’s games, New York has a team ERA of 4.36 and Boston’s staff is ranked last in the league with a whopping 6.20 team ERA.
