No one could have possibly predicted that 20 games into the season the Los Angeles Angels would be tied for the second worst record in Major League Baseball at 6-14. Cleveland is 7-2 away from home this year, and they are actually on top of the AL Central. The Angels have too much talent to stay down for too long, but when will they finally start to realize their potential?

Dan Haren will be on the mound for the Angels in this one. Haren started the season with two bad games, but he has been very good in his last two outings. The last two years he has had an ERA of 2.87 and 3.17. He has had a quality start against the Indians three times in a row. Ace Jered Weaver couldn’t stop the bleeding last night, so it will be up to Haren to do the job Saturday afternoon.

Albert Pujols hasn’t homered all year, but that really isn’t the biggest concern. The biggest issue is that he is only hitting .225 and has just four RBI’s through 20 games. Torii Hunter is the only Angels regular with a batting average above .260. This team is loaded with talent offensively, but they’ve got to get their act together.

Cleveland won in walk off fashion last night over the Angels. The Indians started strong last year before falling apart and finishing 80-82. Cleveland is a young team that is improving steadily, and they hope to contend even longer this season. Just as he did last year, Asdrubal Cabrera is leading the way for this young Indians team. Travis Hafner hasn’t had good years of late, but he is also hitting .321 and has 10 RBI’s this year. If he can keep hitting the ball this team becomes much more dangerous. Cleveland averages 4.72 runs per game, which is 7th in the majors.

Jeanmar Gomez isn’t a highly touted prospect, but he has been a solid pitcher for the Tribe the last couple years. He has only thrown a little over nine innings this year, but he has a stellar 1.93 ERA. After last night’s 3-2 win, the Indians are now 6-0 in one run games this season.

The Angels are 0-5 in Haren’s last 5 starts. The Indians are 7-1 in Gomez’s last 8 starts. The Angels are just 5-11 in their last 16 games as the favorite. Los Angeles is bound to start playing better soon, but for now the value is with the Indians at home.
