Division leaders mop up a weekend series Sunday afternoon as the Yankees and White Sox play the Stadium on Old Timers' Day in the Bronx (2:05 pm Eastern, TBS).
Chicago took the first two games of this series, winning 4-3 Thursday on a ninth-inning homer and 14-7 Friday. But New York got on the board with a 4-0 victory Saturday behind a quality start from Hiroki Kuroda and three home runs.
The White Sox won as +160 underdogs on the MLB betting odds Thursday and +115 dogs Friday, while the Yanks won Saturday as -150 favorites. And the totals are 1-2 in this series, staying 'under' Thursday and Saturday and going 'over' Friday.
Chicago, meanwhile, leads the AL Central by 2.5 games over second-place Cleveland.
Phil Hughes (8-6, 4.48) throws Sunday for New York against Gavin Floyd (6-7, 4.80) for Chicago.
Floyd had a very rough stretch a while back when he gave up at least four runs in six straight starts, but he's now coming off back-to-back quality outings. Last week vs. the Cubs he threw 6 1/3 shutout innings, and last Tuesday vs the Twins he threw seven shutout innings. So maybe he's found some kind of groove.
On the season Floyd has allowed 89 hits, including 15 homers, in 90 innings.
Last year Floyd started twice against the Yankees, going 1-1. In the first game he gave up just two runs in eight innings for the win, but in the second game he got bombed for 10 runs in less than three innings.
On the other side of this pitching matchup Hughes had a rough start to this season, but he's also been better as of late. He's got four quality starts out of his last five outings, and is coming off maybe his best effort of the year, after holding the Indians scoreless through eight innings Tuesday.
For the year Hughes has allowed 91 hits, including 19 dingers, in 86 innings.
Last year Hughes started once against the White Sox, and picked up a win, throwing six innings of three-hit, shut-out ball.
As of Sunday morning most online sportsbooks were listing the Yankees as favorites of around -155 for Sunday's game, with an 'over/under' of 10.5.

The way the ball flies around Yankees Stadium, and with the frequency in which these two starting pitchers have allowed gopher balls this year, we get the feeling Sunday's game is a very good candidate to go 'over' on the total.
