Fox Saturday Baseball betting action features a three-pack of games for you to dig into, and here at Bang the Book, we've got all of the action covered for all three! The Philadelphia Phillies will duel with the slumping Milwaukee Brewers in one of those three outings. The Phils came into the Brew City and swiped a 9-5 victory yesterday as short underdogs, marking its seventh win in its L/9 games and Milwaukee's fourth straight defeat, all of which have come at home. The Brewers are now a woeful 4-12 in games played at Miller Park.
RHP Joe Blanton will be making just his third start of the year for Manager Charlie Manuel. So far, he has led the team to a pair of losses, but he hasn't gotten a ton of help from his offense, which has only supported him with four total runs. His bullpen has also conceded three runs in 5.1 innings of work. Only striking out seven batters and giving out three free passes isn't like Blanton, who had almost a 3/1 K/BB ratio last season. In his career, he is 1-1 with a 5.30 ERA in three starts against the Brew Crew.
Ever since joining the rotation for the Brewers, LHP Chris Narveson has been on fire. He has back-to-back wins and had a very impressive start at Arizona six days ago. Narveson K'd eight D'Backs and allowed just three hits and one run in 5.2 innings of work in a 6-1 victory for the good guys. All today, this southpaw is 3-0 with three holds, a 5.06 ERA, and a 1.58 ERA. His K/9 ratio is a rock solid 7.76 and has been an even more impressive 9.18 in his three starts. He has never faced the Phillies in his young career, which only has 38 appearances and eight starts to date.
We like the way that Narveson is throwing the baseball right now, and Milwaukee's offense clearly has the ability to do some damage against Blanton. One would like to think that the Brewers aren't going to play .250 baseball at home all year long, and we'll bank on that to start to change today in a game that is basically a tossup.
