Minnesota Twins
(22-14, +$354)

New York Yankees
(24-12, +$796)

Kick off your Sunday afternoon with a great slate of MLB betting action, including a fantastic duel in the Bronx between the Minnesota Twins and the New York Yankees. This three game set has belonged to the Bronx Bombers, as New York captured the first two games by an aggregate score of 15-5. Dating back to the start of the 2009 season, the Yanks are a perfect 12-0 against Minnesota including the playoffs.

RHP Nick Blackburn is the man in charge of changing all of that for the Twins on Sunday. Since allowing five earned runs in three straight starts, Blackburn has settled down in a big way. He tossed a complete game in a 4-3 win over Detroit on May 4th, and fired back by pitching seven scoreless innings and allowing just five hits and two walks. The fact that Blackburn has only struck out nine batters all year has to be concerning to manager Rod Gardenhire though, especially if opposing batters continue hitting .312 against one of his best righties.

With LHP Andy Pettitte returning to the rotation yesterday, it seems as though this may be RHP Sergio Mitre's last shot at trying to impress manager Joe Girardi as a starter. He got nailed for the loss in a 5-4 loss at Detroit last week in his lone start of the season. Mitre, just like Blackburn, has troubles notching strikeouts, as he only has seven Ks against six BBs in 14.0 innings of work. For a guy with a 5.50 ERA, 1.54 WHIP, and .298 opposing batting average for his career, ratios should as that are going to be detrimental.

Even though everything has gone New York's way of late against the Twins, this is the chance for it to all change. Minnesota is two games above .500 for the year, and one would like to think that sweeping it, even in Yankee Stadium, is going to be an incredibly tough task, especially for a team that is most likely going to field a questionable lineup in relation to what it normally plays and will have a starting pitcher on the mound that normally wouldn't be in the rotation in preparation for yet another series with Boston starting on Monday.
