First place in the NL East will be on the line on Tuesday night in the Peach State, as the suddenly offensively challenged Philadelphia Phillies engage in MLB betting warfare with their rivals, the Atlanta Braves. The Braves took over first place on Memorial Day with a 9-3 win and will look to open up that lead further with another 'W' on Tuesday.

LHP Cole Hamels will be looking for his fourth straight quality start when he takes the hill at Turner Field on Tuesday. Hamels was a tough luck loser five days ago at Citi Field, as he allowed just two earned runs in 6.2 innings of work. His offense failed to notch a run though, and he suffered the 3-0 defeat. It dropped Hamels to 5-3, but his ERA remains a rock solid 3.82. Against the Braves in his career, the southpaw is 8-4 with a 4.02 ERA. Back on May 9th, Hamels allowed three runs in five innings and got a win in a 5-3 game at home against Atlanta.
RHP Tim Hudson continues to look like a man on a mission this year. He has pitched the Braves to four straight victories, and he hasn't taken the loss in a game since April 21st (ironically enough, against these Phillies). Hudson is 5-1 with a 2.24 ERA, and his 1.13 WHIP and .212 batting average against have him thinking like a Cy Young Award contender. The renewed righty hasn't allowed more than two earned runs in a start since April 26th, and that three run effort was the only time this year that someone knocked him around for anything substantial. Even though Hudson has a 3.75 ERA against the Phils in his career, he is only 4-7 to show for it.
Considering the fact that the Phillies haven't put more than three runs on the board since May 21st, averaging just 1.11 runs per game in that stretch, and that the Braves have the best home record in baseball at 17-6, this one seems to be a bit of a no-brainer, especially at these odds. Though Philly will most likely snap out of this at some point, we don't think the Hudson is the man that it is doing so against.
