MLB betting fans in the Windy City will certainly have their eyes glued to their television sets on Saturday afternoon for the regionally televised duel between the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago White Sox. The South Siders captured the first game in this three game set on Thursday afternoon at Wrigley Field 10-5 and will look to assure itself of winning this series on Saturday.

Up until this season, the model of consistency in the White Sox rotation has been LHP Mark Buehrle. However, at this point, there hasn't been anything consistent about the southpaw's play. Buehrle has allowed six earned runs in each of his L/2 starts, allowing a total of 20 hits in the process. Opposing batters are hitting a whopping .305 against him this year, which is raising both his WHIP (1.49) and ERA (5.40). However, aside from that, the rest of Buehrle's numbers are relatively comparable to those of years' past. The end result is only a 3-6 record though, so this lefty will need to get on his horse to post his tenth straight season with at least ten wins.

On the contrary, RHP Carlos Silva hasn't won ten games in a season since 2007. As a two year member of the Seattle Mariners, Silva only went 5-18 with an ERA of up near a touchdown. This year though, the story is completely different. The right-hander has rejuvenated his career. He is now 8-0 with a 2.93 ERA, and he has only guided the Cubbies to one loss all season long. His +$995 for the year is the best in the majors coming into Friday night. Silva is keeping his walks down, as he has only issued 12 free passes all season long. His 1.06 WHIP and .237 batting average against are both far beyond any numbers that he has seen often, but the real key has been 47 strikeouts. Silva struck out 69 guys in 28 starts in '08, his last full season in the bigs. It's not that his stuff has been overwhelming, but Silva is doing just enough to keeper batters confused, and the results have been phenomenal. It also helps that the team has given him at least four runs of support in all ten games of this ten game winning streak that the Cubs are on with him on the bump.

Even though we know that we're playing with fire going against Silva, this game is simply going to hopefully be a case of market correction. We don't feel as though Silva is all that great, and we know that Buehrle is a significantly better pitcher than he has shown this season. If things regulate themselves out, the White Sox are going to win this game more often than they lose it.
