There is a three way tie at the top of the NL West heading into this weekend’s games. The surprising Rockies and Diamondbacks are up there with the defending champs from San Francisco, but notably absent are the disappointing Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Yankees and Red Sox are battling it out at the top of a very fluid AL East race. Something tells me that AL East race is going to fluctuate more often than any other race this season.

BangtheBook wants to give baseball bettors some extra information to try to stay ahead of the books this year. This MLB betting article will be done twice a week during the baseball season to give you trends to consider before wagering your money on baseball. Let’s look at trends to consider for series’ this week.

-The Baltimore Orioles haven’t had any luck in Toronto over the past few years. The Orioles are 15-45 in their last 60 games at Toronto. Toronto is trying to kick it in gear over the last few days. Can they keep it going and redeem themselves after a terrible first quarter of the year?

-Just when you thought the Minnesota Twins might be a little more competitive this year, they went out and lost their lost 8 games. It won’t get any easier for the Twins as they face the Detroit Tigers this weekend in Detroit.

-How are the Arizona Diamondbacks doing so well this year? Having a dominant top of the rotation youngster like Patrick Corbin sure doesn’t hurt. The Diamondbacks are now a perfect 9-0 in his 9 starts this year. Many wondered whether that streak might end in his last outing at Coors Field. Corbin ended up throwing a complete game and allowing just one run. He’ll face the light-hitting Padres on Sunday.

-The Angels have won four straight games. They are in Kansas City this weekend. The Angels are 30-13 in their last 43 games at Kansas City. Mike Trout is on fire and the Angels are scoring runs by the bunches. Is it a head fake or the real deal?

-Few teams have given the New York Yankees as much trouble over the last few years as the Tampa Bay Rays. Tampa Bay is 13-3 in their last 16 home games against the Yankees. New York will be in Tampa this weekend. The Rays are slowly working their way into the AL East picture as well.

-Pittsburgh is better than they have been in recent years, and the Milwaukee Brewers are down a bit. Still, it should probably be repeated that the Pirates are a pathetic 7-44 in their last 51 games in Milwaukee. That’s one of the most lopsided trends you’ll see in head to head matchups in the majors.

-The over is 22-8-2 in the last 32 meetings between the Rockies and Giants. The Giants offense is better than most realize this year, and the Rockies once again have a very good lineup.

-Oakland has taken care of business against the lowly Astros of late. The Athletics are 11-1 in their last 12 meetings with the Astros. They are 5-0 in their last 5 games in Houston. The Astros are 37-97 in their last 134 games.

-The under is 22-4 in the Texas Rangers last 26 Friday games. The under is also 5-0-1 in their last 6 games in Seattle. The Rangers will take on the Mariners in Seattle this weekend.
