The American League East is always exciting. Year after year the clubs in the division field great teams that contend for the top slot or at least a playoff position when the regular season is coming to a close. Earlier in the season the Boston Red Sox had a monopoly on 1st place, for most of the last month it has been the Yankees that have had a grip on the position. After the Yankees lost the first game of this series yesterday Boston again possesses a slim lead, no doubt, but they will take it. The Yankees have gone 5-5 in their last ten which has lead to them sliding down into second place in the division. They have put together a positive record at home and on the road this season and will likely be a contender for the duration of the year, provided they stay healthy. Speaking of which, the rumor mill is suggesting that Alex Rodriguez's ailments may not allow him to return this year and possibly could bring about the end of his career.

The Mets pulled out a close victory on Memorial Day over the Bronx Bombers, who were only able to put a single run on the board, with a final score of 2-1. The Subway Series is always an exciting time in the city, giving New Yorkers another thing to howl about. Daniel Murphy was set on winning the first game for the Mets at Citi Field, he was robbed of a two run homer but came back later to post up the game winning RBI. In the game tonight you can look for Matt Harvey to defend his loss-less record of 5-0 and 1.93 ERA, which is thus far below his career average. Tune in tonight to see if the Mets can pull out another win.
