Games one and two, were played at Great American Ballpark on Monday and Tuesday. The series now shifts to Cleveland for two at Progressive Field.

The Reds, a pre-season favorite for many to not only win the National League Central, but to reach the World Series, have been in an early season battle with the Cardinals and the surprising Pittsburgh Pirates. As of Tuesday the Reds were 32-19, and trailed the Cards by just a game and a half. The Pirates were hanging tough, just a game behind the Reds.

The Reds won the opener against the Tribe on Monday by a score of 4-2, which put them at over .500 on the road for the year at 13-12.

The City of Cleveland has been rocking in the past week or so as “Captain America” with its explosive effects is being filmed in the City. In the case of the Indians however, they have been plagued by some recent implosions that have staggered their bullpen. Closer Chris Perez has been diagnosed with tendonitis after being removed in the final inning a Sunday’s game. He’s been placed on the DL. In that game Perez and the Tribe bullpen blew a 3 run ninth inning lead to the Red Sox. The have lost 6 of their last 7. Terry Francona, in his first year managing the Indians, has announced that Vinnie Pistano, will now be the new closer. Pistano has had his own share of struggles as of late.

The Indians were hot in May, winning 18 of 22 from late April thru May 20th. That had them climbing atop the Amercan League Central Division standings. Recent failings however, have them trailing the Tigers in the standings.

The Reds meanwhile have won 7 of their last 10 and have outscored their opponents by 64 runs over the course of the still young season. Wednesday's game will have the Tribe’s Justin Masterson (7-3 with a 3.20 ERA) facing the Reds Bronson Arroyo (5-4 with a 3.39 ERA). This is a good starting pitching match-up. The Tribe is hoping Masterson pitches well enough to keep the Reds out of their flammable bullpen.
