No team has beaten the Los Angeles Dodgers in a series since July 12th-14th. The Boston Red Sox have a good chance to become the first on Sunday Night Baseball betting action when the two meet at Dodger Stadium tonight.

Boston has proven that it is one of the best teams in the league, and if it can ultimately win this game and this series, the rest of baseball will officially be on notice. The Sox are only percentage points back of the Tampa Bay Rays for first place in the AL East though, and they have to keep their eyes on their rearview mirror, where the Baltimore Orioles, New York Yankees, Cleveland Indians, and Oakland Athletics are all waiting and watching, ready to snap if Boston falls. Tonight, it's the newcomer of the staff, RHP Jake Peavy who will get the ball. Peavy is only making his fifth start with his new team, and the truth of the matter is that he has pitched well enough to warrant the trade. It's not his fault that his team hasn't done him any favors, which is why the team is only 1-3 in his four starts. However, Peavy has a 4.18 ERA and has allowed two runs or fewer in three of his four starts with the team.

The Dodgers are fighting for the best record in baseball, but five teams are within just 3.5 games of the best record in the National League. The NL West title is just about in hand, knowing that there are 9.5 games on the Arizona Diamondbacks with just 34 games to play. Going just 17-17 would certainly be good enough to win the NL West. If there is a problem that this team has had this year, it has been with its fifth pitcher in the rotation. LHP Chris Capuano has been taking up that spot for the majority of the year, and though he hasn't pitched poorly, he hasn't been a stud either. The lefty has a 4.70 ERA and a 4-6 record, but the club is 10-7 in his 17 starts on the season. Of course, a lot of that is because of how well the Dodgers have been playing. Case in point: Capuano has a 2.09 WHIP and a 7.53 ERA in his last three starts, but the team is 3-0 thanks to the productive offense.

Simply put, there is no way that we going against the Dodgers at home as underdogs in any situation at this point. Until someone proves that they can consistently beat this team, we aren't getting off of the bandwagon. The truth of the matter is that even with this pitching matchup, LA should probably be a -150 favorite.
