-Atlanta will be in Washington as the Nationals have their home opener on Friday afternoon. Atlanta has dominated the Nationals in recent matchups. -The Cubbies are off to another bad start, but they’ll be back at Wrigley Field for the first time since last year and Cubs fans are eternally optimistic. Can they get off to a good start in front of their home crowd? Chicago is 9-25 in their last 34 home games. They are playing against a Philadelphia team though that is 16-38 in their last 54 road games. Something has to give in this series.

-Are the Astros much improved or are the Yankees just overrated this year? Houston will host the Angels for a weekend series. The Angels got off to another dreadful 0-3 start. They are now 0-7 in their last 7 games. Los Angeles continues to underperform expectations. It certainly isn’t Mike Trout’s fault, but the rest of this team just isn’t as good as most believe.

-The Giants and Dodgers meet in Los Angeles in their first series of the year this weekend. The Giants are 5-1 in the last 6 games between these two. The Dodgers are an impressive 24-6 in their last 30 during game one of the series, so be careful going against them at the start of a series.

-St. Louis and Pittsburgh will meet in a battle of the top two teams in the NL Central from last year. Pittsburgh is 8-3 in their last 11 home games against the Cardinals. Shelby Miller has been great in his young career, but the Cardinals are 0-4 in his last 4 starts against the Pirates.

-Miami is off to a fast start to the season at 3-1. The Marlins host the Padres this weekend. Miami is 5-0 in their last 5 home games vs. a left-handed starting pitcher. The Marlins will face Padres lefty Eric Stults on Friday night. San Diego is just 1-5 in their last 6 games at Miami.

-The Rockies and Diamondbacks are both off to bad starts to the season. Colorado’s home opener will be Friday against Arizona. The Diamondbacks are 0-7 in their last 7 Friday games. Colorado is 8-2 in their last 10 Friday games. The under is 8-2 in the last 10 meetings between these two at Colorado.
