The NY Mets finish a five game series against the Colorado Rockies on Sunday, and they look to straighten out a disastrous series so far.

The Mets struggled to muster any offense against the Rockies pitching staff, scoring just 7 runs against them in the first two games. Three of those runs came late in the last inning on Thursday night, falling well short.

Rockies ace Juan Nicasio held the Mets to a scoreless first seven innings, and only three hits during his outing.

Meanwhile the Rockies are taking full advantage of the Mets pitching. Carlos Gonzalez homered early setting the trend for the rest of the line-up. Gonzalez left in the fourth inning after injuring his hand trying to catch a foul ball. But the Rockies continued to pour on the offense in the thinner mountain air.

Dillon Gee takes to the mound for the Mets this time. He is pitching solid, posting the best outing for any Met pitcher just last week. He reeled in eight scoreless innings against the Marlins on his way to his second win.

Gee's record is 2-1 and he is still searching for his third win of the season. His pitching is tough, with a 2.88 ERA he leaves little opening for big bats. Gee found the conditions at Coors Field tough last year, when he let the Rockies score five runs on him. However, the cold weather could have been a factor.

The Rockies will send Jhoulys Chacin to the mound to face the Met's line-up. This is his first game of the season, after coming off the D.L. for a right shoulder strain.

Chacin had an excellent season last year winning 24 games and posting a 3.47 ERA. This time out he faces an offense that can get hot, even though they showed up far too late in the first game.

The Rockies line-up has been hot of late, helping the team to a 18-13 record. The Mets are 15-13.

The Mets will travel back across the continent to play a three-game series against the Rockies in New York, September 8th.
