The entire National League East is now separated by 1.5 games. The Braves have lost six straight, and the Nationals have been a bit disappointing thanks to injury issues. That has allowed the surprising Mets, Phillies, and Marlins to stay in the division race early in the year. I don’t expect any of those bottom three to be in the race at the end of the year, but it’s interesting to see the whole NL East bunched together.

BangtheBook wants to give you more information to make your baseball bets winning ones this year. We will be posting this MLB trends article two times each week. Expect this article on Monday’s and Thursday’s of each week. This article will highlight trends to consider for this week’s series’.

-The Dodgers have been money with Zack Greinke on the hill, but the Nationals have been money with Jordan Zimmerman on the mound as well. Those two square off on Monday night, so something has to give. The Dodgers are 22-6 in Greinke’s last 28 starts. The Nationals are 37-17 in Zimmerman’s last 54 starts.

-The St. Louis Cardinals might be the best team in the National League by the time it’s all said and done this year, but they haven’t been stringing together wins this year. The Cardinals are 0-7 in their last 7 games following a win. They are in Atlanta to face the reeling Braves this week. Atlanta is 76-34 in their last 110 home games.

-Miami’s surprising start has come almost solely because of their success at home. The Marlins are 14-5 at home so far this year. Miami is 9-1 in their last 10 home games against a left-handed starter.  They are 4-0 in their last 4 as a home favorite. New York is in town this week. The Mets are 2-5 in their last 7 games at Miami.

-The Yankees are 1-9 in their last 10 games as an underdog of +110 to +150. They will probably be an underdog a few times against the Angels this week. The Angels are just 6-16 in their last 22 Monday games. On the other hand, the Angels are 28-13 in their last 41 home games against the Yankees.

-After a good start, the Blue Jays are just 3-8 in their last 11 games overall. Toronto is in Philadelphia for an interleague series this week. The Blue Jays are 5-0 in their last 5 games in Philadelphia. The Phillies are just 3-7 in their last 10 games as a home favorite.

-Texas is in Colorado for a series at Coors Field this week. The Rangers are 6-0 in their last 6 road games against a team with a winning record. The Rockies are just 15-36 in their last 51 interleague games. Colorado is 8-3 in their last 11 home games, and they are 13-3 in their last 16 following a loss.

-Seattle is 5-0 in their last 5 games as an underdog. They’ll be a dog often this weekend as they are facing the NL West leading Oakland Athletics. Oakland is 6-0 in Scott Kazmir’s starts this year. He starts on Monday. The Athletics are 69-32 in their last 101 games as a home favorite. The over is 11-5 in the last 16 meetings between these two teams.
