A National League West match-up will be featured in Major League Baseball betting action when the San Francisco Giants travel to face the Los Angeles Dodgers Thursday night at 10:10 ET at Dodger Stadium. This Thursday night game will be the first in a four game series between these two California rivals.
The Giants are on what seems to be a never ending road trip that they have gone 4-2 SU on to this point. They’ve lost their L/2 games against the Pittsburgh Pirates by one run in each contest. On Wednesday San Francisco was shut down in the final four innings of the game in a 4-3 loss. Pitcher Tim Lincecum made it only 4.0 innings giving up eight hits and four runs to run his record to 2-2 on the year. Brandon Belt hit his ninth homerun and contributed a two run double as he was responsible for all three RBI’s in the loss. The Giants offense is off to a great start scoring 4.24 runs per game and they have already hit 42 homeruns to rank third in the league. On Thursday right hander Ryan Vogelsong will take the mound for San Francisco, he has a 4.60 ERA in 29.1 innings pitched to this point. In his last outing Vogelsong was solid going 6.0 innings as he gave up one run on five hits and struck out six batters in a 3-1 win over the Atlanta Braves. A repeat performance would help against this potent Dodgers lineup.
The Dodgers faced the young fire baller Steven Strasburg on Wednesday and they had no answer only managing two runs in the first 6.1 innings. From there they were no-hit by the Washington Nationals bullpen in a 3-2 loss. Pitcher Dan Haren took his first loss of the year as he threw 6.0 innings giving up three runs on seven hits. Right handed pitcher Josh Beckett will get the start for Los Angeles as he has started the season with four no decisions and one loss to his credit. That loss came in his last outing as he gave up four runs on eight hits in 6.2 innings and struck out eight as the Dodgers fell to the Miami Marlins 6-3 that night. They trail the Giants in the NL West standings with a record of 19-16 SU and they have fallen in two of their L/3 games. Los Angeles is just 3-12 SU in its L/15 match-ups with the Giants including a 2-4 SU mark so far this season.
The Dodgers and Giants both had to face long flights from the East Coast on Wednesday night to get into Los Angeles in time for this game. That makes us like the ‘under’ that is 6-2 in Vogelsong’s L/8 match-ups with the Dodgers. As far as a side is considered we like the Giants to pull out the win on the road as Beckett’s tough luck will continue against this powerful offense. They have been dominant in this series of late including a 2-1 win by Vogelsong back on April 16th in San Francisco.
